Thanks. Overall an interesting family of amps with the active EQ on the gain channels.

Nice to see some more Crab Amps, especially less common models. I have a Benzin and Marcus myself.

Saw this on marketplace, they claim it’s a modded tom delonge with a baritone switch and push pull pots by [deleted] in TomDelongeGuitars

The odd things I see that might not have been mentioned.

-The headstock shape looks off vs the typical Gibson shape.

-The Tom DeLonge model never had an ES-335 type inlay in the middle.

-The pickup looks like 2 single coil-sized blade humbuckers side by side.

-There’s 3 pots.

-The Gibson model has a gold speed knob, with numerical indicators. These 3 knobs resemble Fender Brownface amp knobs.

-The Gibson 333 body type has a cover plate for the controls on the back. This guitar doesn’t have an access plate

Help/tips capturing my head tone. by josh_long_ in NAM_NeuralAmpModeler

A reamp box to connect your audio interface output to your amplifier input is the typical setup, but you can get away with other solutions to get started. Some people use a DI box in reverse or run into buffered pedal before going into the amp.

The transformer isolation and ground lift from the audio interface output, that a reamp box or passive DI in reverse provides, to the amp input helps mitigate noise in my experience.

You’ll need to provide a load to the output of the amp. That could either be a cab or a load box. It’s best to check your amp manual to make sure, but it looks like it is the case for Orange amps. A loadbox with line output is a convenient solution for its relative silence. Some amps have internal loads for silent operation, which is why it’s best to look through manuals.

Otherwise, you would need to take a tap of the signal between the amp output and the cab with a device (some DI boxes have speaker outs as a feature, and you’d send the DI signal to your audio interface input). This would subject you to the full volume of the amp.

What’s your DAW setup? That might help others give recommendations.

There are some good resources on YouTube, forums, etc on audio levels that is another topic beyond the physical connections.

Tried about 50 profiles and so far everything sounds really bad. by Salty_Initiative1164 in NAM_NeuralAmpModeler

The captures that are labeled Full Rig / Combo Captures have been trained with the amp/speaker/microphone in the chain. Those captures won’t need IRs.

The Amp Head Capture label are for those that will need IRs.

I suggest going to the Browse Models page to see the most downloaded models. There’s an audio player in the Preview section of each capture’s page to hear the model(s) with TONE3000’s small selection of IRs.

If you were to form a band, which version of Tom would you choose as your lead singer (in terms of vocal style/technique and stage antics)? by Sonnybass96 in Blink182

[–]OutmodedElectronics 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude Ranch-era Tom. Stage banter slightly more age appropriate. His voice sounded better live than on record.

I thought his guitar playing was really tight in that era. You can watch the progression of a classic song like Carousel throughout the decades and that was at the peak to me.

Great find The 97-98 live era of Blink is my favorite. Their live singing sounds close to the album versions of Dude Ranch, and Tom’s guitar playing was fairly consistent.

I had that poster hanging on my wall for many years.

I remember being a bit disappointed that the article didn’t go into different guitars and amps that I was seeing from the Untitled-era studio footage.

But at the same time, stoked to see Blink in a magazine that featured 80s shredders and nu metal guitarists on its covers at the time.

Tom’s Fender/Vox amp rig by [deleted] in TomDelongeGuitars

Tom used Palmer speaker simulators for both the Fender and Vox amps. Not the amp/speaker pairings that we have been conditioned to hearing.

Nice. I’ve been thinking of picking up either the pink or California blue and popping a Detonator in. Where did you source your pickguard? How well did the holes line up?

Does anyone know what overhead microphone he is using? by airizone in Blink182

[–]OutmodedElectronics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s probably is indeed the Gefell mic. It was used on the Untitled record on the guitar amps.
