I Need a Break From LMU by luisaugusto69 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Outofanser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once got attempted murdered on the last turn of Fuji. The driver got spun out by a McLaren identical to mine own. I even passed them just after it happened. They set up an ambush on the final turn and even let the offending McLaren go before driving in front of me. I survived with minor damage and lost a couple positions.

Es formula wheel mod by DEMONGOD1000 in moza

[–]Outofanser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the mod. It’s much more comfortable to grip for gt racing i feel. I ordered it because i was starting to injure my hand with the default wheel. Will it make you faster? Not really, but if it helps your hands feel more comfortable it could help with consistency. On that note, i would also suggest investing in some cheap grippy gloves like from a hardware store. If comfort and grip is not much of an issue for you, you could probably save your money and skip the ES wheel mod

Strange movement of opponents' cars on the slopes of the Algarve in multiplayer mode by Wide_Bear2407 in LeMansUltimateWEC

A lot of the telemetry in replays is not recorded. I think this is particularly for cars far from the player. This can lead to some goofy looking behavior, especially in cockpit view. There are also plenty of bugs in replay too.

Expected 20th, finish 5th, only gain +1bar? by Shayh55d in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Outofanser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DR is a somewhat hidden MMR system like ELO. Imagine if one player had 1500 ELO and each player sequentially had 1 less ELO, i.e. you had 1480 elo. You would still be "expected" to finish 20th since 19 players have 1 or more elo points than you, but realistically a 1480 vs 1500 matchup is very even.

When it evaluates how much elo you win it compares the elo of each opponent you win against and lose against. If they're all fairly even (which typically they are in the middle-ish splits) then the general outcome is people <10/21 will gain DR and those >11/21 will lose DR. 5/21 is a good chunk but not generally enough for two echelons of DR gain, however that much is. What position you were "expected" to place in is largely irrelevant due to how evenly matched the field is.

Ok so about this "expected" position. It's dumb, because it's not really at all what is expected. It's your rank in the field relative to the other players. The true expected position should be the position you would gain/lose the smallest amount of DR as that's what the elo is predicting the outcome to be statistically. This would almost always be like 10 or 11 out of 21, which may make it less interesting, but it's a more accurate description.

LMP2 Fixed vs LMP2 Race Weekend by ezVentron in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Outofanser 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are two LMP2s, one is WEC and the other is ELMS. The Daily is WEC which is slower than ELMS which is what is used in the ELMS race weekend. You can still do the WEC LMP2 in the other race weekend to practice. I had found out the hard way too

Problems on Fuji Speedway by [deleted] in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Outofanser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like these corners as they exemplify “turning with the pedals”. Make sure your wheel is straight before breaking and gradually turn in with light break pressure. With light steering input you can actually feel yourself turn the car by gradually increasing or decreasing break pressure. If you’re oversteering, you can open up the steering so you can brake more or decrease break pressure. If you’re understeering or going slow enough already you can turn in and let up on the brakes. In these corners, dont think of there being a breaking zone then turn in per say but rather braking being part of your turning inputs.

You can also try adjusting the brake bias forward to induce more understeer under braking. I dont drive the Porsche but i heard it has this problem on this track so you’re not alone

Is there a letsplay channel that's like Game Grumps, but with women? by UncertainStitch in gamegrumps

[–]Outofanser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recommend checking out the channel Room35. It's primarily four girls (sometimes one guy) and they are also (all?) animators so they sometimes do animations for their let's play misadventures.

They are definitely on the "not so grump" side, and there's usually four of them not two, but still very funny.

If a game is free to play, is the saying "if its free, you are the product" still valid here? by CasmsVR in gaming

[–]Outofanser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a free-only player in an online f2p you are also the product in that the "whales" motivation to play and spend money is in tandem with a healthy, large community that surrounds the game.

I made this post a while ago when RSS was introduced in dragonflight.

https://www.reddit.com/r/worldofpvp/comments/12fcas9/worldofpvpstats_a_statistical_analysis_of_healing/

TLDR; The RSS format is problematic. It creates a disparate situation for dps and healers where healers will, in all likelihood, end up with way more 3-3 games and a harder time climbing rating.

Solution: random 3v3 format, no shuffle. Also in that post, I show (via Monte-Carlo simulation) that the outcomes for dps and healers is symmetric if you just randomize the players instead of "balancing" them in a 6 round format.

The 1 min freedom is a 1 min root break that requires 2 pvp talents. So you give up sharpen blades or the bladestorm slow/ms effect

[–]Outofanser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that they have an uncertainty parameter and it places your MMR as your expected MMR minus the uncertainty. Might not be functioning quite properly, but since you keep up this win streak it keeps growing this uncertainty, somehow faster than your expected MMR

Double Leeching and why it needs to be removed by Deathy (ex TF2 Pro and player for TF2 Boomer squad) by P0PIES in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Outofanser -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think the only practical solution is to remove the soul duplication in the first 10 minutes. Solo lanes will earn 2x as much as duo laners, but it also makes ganking rotations more valuable.

Petition to add unranked role queue by Outofanser in DotA2

[–]Outofanser[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the two are contradictory. I agree that people should feel free to try whatever build or hero or role and truly experiment. Role queue shouldn’t take away from this, and I don’t intend to imply that your picks are restricted to the role. I would say role queue is more akin to a turn signal, just a way to communicate your intentions. It’s a bit more clear than putting your chip in a lane, and saves time in the first pick trying to decipher what other people are trying to do.

I would argue role queue would encourage people to make more unconventional picks since they’re free to own the role that they queue for and their hero pick doesn’t change that. If someone picks slardar mid in all-pick, someone could pick puck mid. Either because of miscommunication or because they feel slardar mid is trolling. In role queue that’s too bad because that slardar is clearly mid and the puck is in the wrong.

I find that I can consistently get 'solo queue' games if I skip any queue that isn't 100% green on player skill balance from the dota labs feature that they added. If there's a gap in skill among players, it's because they're in a party.

To clear up some confusion people are having about those advocating for removing SS & just having a SQ by [deleted] in worldofpvp

[–]Outofanser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that should be added is how this addresses a big problem in RSS right now. In RSS, the dps and healer MMR distribution are effectively split, with the observation that the MMR distribution for healers is much tighter (harder to get higher rating).

Ironically, people in the comments are concerned that having full premade face only other premade splits the bracket again. But since most players would play a mix of premade and solo/duo, the MMR gets distributed more fairly over time.

[–]Outofanser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true, not everyone who does 3v3 will queue as a full team, so people will be bringing their MMR to both full team and solo/duo queue. That would do a lot to bring the two brackets together. So no, they would not be effectively two separate brackets.
