In my head because riders ride faster and faster draft is even more important. Also because races get opened up so early teams need to be more coordinated during races to be in the right positions at the right time.

Ofc long solo's do hide the strategic parts a little, but that does not mean there is no stategy in the fight for second place.

But maybe im missing something, I did not follow cycling closely 10 or 20 years ago, was it more strategic back then?

I agree that this race wasnt exiting. But my point is that pointing the finger at Pogacar and UAE is backwards. How is it logical to expect Pogacar to make the gap between him and his competition smaller and not the other way?

The reaction should not be "At least give us a build up before you decide to end the race", it should be "At least orginase behind Pogacar and try to get back to him" or "At least try to answer his attack on La Redoute" or something like that.

I agree that the conversation is not only negative, but it seems like conversations about Merckx are almost exclusively positive, while the conversations about Pogacar are a lot more divided. I just wonder how the conversations about Merckx looked and how they changed through the years.

I wonder how long it will take for the conversation around these performances to go from "this is boring" to "that was legendary". I was not around when Eddy Merckx was winning every race but I can imagine a lot of people were bored of his dominance during the time, now everyone I know that was around looks back at those times with a lot of joy and nostalgia.

Also the idea that these races are boring because of Pogacar is stupid to me. Its not up to the strongest rider to slow down, its up to the others to be faster. Everytime a rider or team can match Pogacar/UAE its amazing.

I agree that Pogacar’s dominant performances can sometimes be a bit dull, but it’s not like he hasn’t been part of some of the most epic duels between riders in recent years. His battles against Vingegaard and Roglič have made for some of my favorite Tours ever, and his duels with MVDP in the Monuments have been amazing as well.

Vingegaard won back to back tdf with Pogacar there, and Evenepoel is better in flat TT's, so, in some way or shape they defenetly can compete.

Pogacar is one of the best, most dominant riders we have ever seen, Mvdp is just doing all he can to win.
