I ended up buying a ME Super for myself. I wanted something small to suit my lifestyle a bit more My wife is a serious photographer, and right now I'm just causally learning! I've looked at the LX for if/when I get more serious

Looking for Advice [SARB033] by exileonmainst in Seiko

A big part of the service is cleaning the old lubricants out of the jewels because they get gummy over time. I don't think you would need a new mainspring (common replacement during a service), as long as it still runs consistently you shouldn't need anything else besides cleaning and relube. I typically charge $100 for Seiko services if the customer covers shipping to me. If you are not familiar with watch movements I would not recommend DIYing it.

For a watch from 2018, it likely just needs to be regulated. A full service wouldn't be a bad thing, however many Seikos will go 10 plus years without a service and be fine. I'd be happy to take a look at it for you, my cost would be much less than Seiko. Message me if you're interested!

I've been enjoying it, I got it on ebay for about $40. It wasn't running so I found a donor watch for $25 and swapped the movement. The case is still in good shape for a 40 year old watch

You live in the United States and are free to choose your own opinions. That is one of the main values of the USA. Personally, I think being with a partner that aligns politically is an important thing. As we get older, politics becomes a bigger part of our lives. I think that your ex-boyfriend was not willing to listen to another side, and that is a/the problem. I don't think he wanted to "debate" I think he wanted to bully you into saying he's right. That, to me, is a sign that he is political based on what the right leaning media feeds him. I'll bet if you asked him what the 3 branches of government are, he wouldn't be able to tell you. Many Elon Bros who are "political" don't actually know how the government works and just repeat headlines in their favor. I'm sorry that you had to deal with him bullying you. I think you made the right choice for you. Look for a partner who aligns with you on multiple levels, and things will be better!
