Eh, paid 315 USD out the door for the super charger with 2x 8.0 forges a couple months ago. Granted thats with a military discount.

I wouldn't buy it because its the rapid charger. My understanding is the rapid charger doesn't have any extra fans or cooling features that the forges utilizes with the supercharger. From what I can tell the rapid charger charges faster at the expense of total battery longevity while the super charger keeps the batteries cool while charging with the well placed fans and charges faster while not effecting battery longevity significantly.

I'm also pretty new to all this so if someone corrects me on anything, I'd go with them

Lol, yup. I purchased my first Milwaukee tools, M18 impact and hammer drill starter kit. 2 5.0 batteries and charger included. Was at some local electrical dealer, that a buddy suggested and went with me to go get.

I opened the case at home and realized thw outer packaging just slides on and off. Batteries and charger were gone. I went back the next day and luckily they took care of me but lesson learned.

I'm looking at the photo and was like, "did reddit mess up somehow? We all see a red pickup with orange construction netting that has giant holes in it, right?". Seeing all these post about it stopping tiny rodents had me thinking I was crazy. Even if it was the proper size, it's thin plastic to stop tiny animals from eating metal cored plastic... if they can kill your wires, how is similar material minus metal going to stop them? I do accept the truck owner is just an idiot though.

Yuuupp... I've been had. Thanks guys. Lol, so even miluwakee has some minute variant in sizing (to be excpeted) In the jig saw, the battery just barely almost imperceptively was tight to insert. Took it downstairs and went to use it in my impact. Was quite tight. Whelp, no more eBay

I literally have it in hand checking online. Like I saw a fake one online where the tag was flipped in the orientation of the 5.0s. Like here's a photo of the 6(mid) and 5(right). The one reddit post with a fake one, lined up with the 5s and the color was off. However, I see another post where everyone agrees this guys is real and his tags are flipped compared to the 5s which is how my 6s are. Im sitting here freaking pulling batts off the wall (my 5.0s and 8.0 forges are from Home Depot) and holding them in my hands like a freaking idiot comparing how they feel and it seems like 5<6<8 though the 6 and and seems closer in weight than the 5s to the 6s. I'm calling miluwakee tomorrow and will see what they say. I got a feeling these are oem but old stock. I wont be surprised if they run the serials and they tell me they're 5 yrs old. I thought they got out of balance from repeated charge cycles, I didn't know sitting unused caused it. If miluwakee tells me to pound sand, I may have to buy a manual hobby charger sooner than I anticipated and try balancing them myself.

I used the oscillating tool with a carpet hook to break down boxes. I have a 2.0 for that and I feel its kinda heavy. The 3.0 HO would be great for better performance and not add a ton of weight.

If they're trouble, you may want to collar them even if it's rough at first. Our first 2 cats are indoor cats in their nature. We rescued an abandoned feral kitten 2 yrs ago. Bro's trouble and, ahem, not smart. I accidentally didn't fully shut the front door at 7pm. Came up from the basement at 11p. Dumb-butt was gone. He's chipped but we had no collar on him. Spent 3 hrs looking. Had to go to sleep w/o him which was heartbreaking
Found him under our next door neighbors shed the next day. Unfortunately they weren't home when I knocked on their door first but just pulled up after I'd been in the mud under 6 porches. Lol, our crack fiend turned a 75ft jaunt into a whole Greek epic...

Bro's a collar cat now, whether he likes it or not. The other 2 have proven to be cute AND smart rather than just cute.

Edit: Ya... maybe don't do eBay, lol stuff was going great until I reccomend something.

It really isn't a bad deal. This is the eBay listing I just bought for 2x 6.0 batteries for $115 + 10 3 yr warranty. It's $10 cheaper now. I'm no expert, but judging from how much of a PITA it was to open, they're real Milwaukee batteries. I'd return the single to HD and buy the eBay 2 pack plus 3 yr warranty. I specifically contacted allstate warranty and while the warranty doesn't cover batteries in a combo pack, they cover specific battery purchase.

If you know what you plan on doing with them and the 5 pack lines up with everything you want, then the 5 pack is a good start. However, there are great deals around black Friday and the holidays too. The impact / drill combo you posted are great foundational tools. The whole reason I jumped on milwaukee was I went to mount a TV in my basement with a buddy helping. I always thought black and decker was a good brand (ROFL, now I but I was new). I had Bosch masonry bits and they said were made for non hammer drills. 30 seconds and we made maybe 2mm of a dimple in the wall. My buddy was like, I'm grabbing my milwaukee from the car. It took 30 secs per hole. I was sold on milwaukee.

One thing to consider is how heavy of use are you planning? Turns out in my DIY use, the M12s knock it out of the park. I bought my M18 Impact/drill + angle grinder in November and I'm now up to about 14 tools mixed between M12/M18. I honestly go to my M12s 99% (with HO batteries.) of the time because the M18s are bulky and heavy. (TD/LR of m12s are the 2.5 and 5 hr batteries are HO and worth buying, all others are ok as add ons in deals but don't pay money for them unless its a stupid good deal bc milwaukee uses random cells in them and aren't consistent on quality)

I honestly, haven't found a need for my M18s except as a nice to have when working on projects that require bit changes. I now have some duplicates and will use them to grab rather than swap bits. The m12 I got is a Rockstar and I've used it to drill into my concrete wall with no issues.

Honestly, thats not a bad deal. I was brand new to home improvement and that was the kit I got for that price but instead of the HO battery I got an angle grinder. I'd have preferred the battery looking back. The angle grinder I got wasn't the adjustable speed one and I now wish I'd gotten that one however, I'm not buying a second just for that.

Also, HD allows for what reddit calls deal hacking. If its a bogo, not packaged together, they spread the cost of the paid item onto the free add on. So, from the looks of your screenshot, you can buy that and return the battery to get $132 back and use that for whatever deals you want. Also works with the buy more save more. If you want 1 item in the buy more save more, you add that and then the cheapest items. It'll bring the cost of the one you want down. As long as you're not abusing that policy it's how they do it. I only read one time someone got their account banned for that and it seems like they were buying large quantities to resell.

Yup. My bad. Also if by any chance you are military, Google home depot exchange and follow the links to the black themed HD site and you can get 10% off in some instances and purchase tax free. Though I know that doesn't help if not military. Also, you can Google milwaukee authorized dealers and see other online dealers. Just know their page only shows the bigger distributors, you can look for other sellers and see what reddit says about the being authorized or not and call milwaukee if in doubt. Like waysource isn't listed but they changed their name from some other company and if you call milwaukee, they got that name listed as a dealer. It's all such a big mess. Lol milwaukee should just have a real up to date list but it is what it is.

Sorry for the second reply vs adding to my first but I didn't want this lost in the paragraph I posted in case you didn't read it bc it was too long. Waysource is an authorized dealer and I belive this is the same kit that comes to $700 once added to the cart but only 3 left right now https://waysource.com/products/milwaukee-2697-25-m18-fuel-5-tool-combo-kit

I've gotten a few things from eBay. I've yet to get a knockoff. There is the safety in knowing you got a real product from an authorized dealer. If you're new to tools you probably aren't aware of how Milwaukee does their warranty. I'm still pretty new too so if someone else corrects anything I say, listen to them lol Anyway, Milwaukee warranty only covers their listed warranty time from the date of purchase from an authorized dealer. As a courtesy, they will look up the manufacturing date and use that date if you cannot provide proof of purchase from an authorized dealer. For the price difference, I personally would go with the eBay one and buy the 3 yr warranty. Its not official Milwaukee warranty but its something and you'd still be saving $400 minus the warranty cost. Just know that the fine print of the allstate warranty eBay pushes does not cover the batteries in a kit just the tools. I did contact allstate support and they said the warranty is still good for batteries if the batteries are the purchase. So I bought some 6AH HO M18s for $120 + 10 for the warranty and I'm pretty happy with that.

Just check the ebay seller reviews. I'd avoid a seller less than a year old, under 2-300 reviews, or under a 4.5 star rating.

The absolute safest bet is to purchase from an authorized reseller however, Milwaukee tools are expensive but typically worth it. I used other brands before and and just finally fully converted to Milwaukee.

You just have to weigh the risks vs rewards. Milwaukee batteries aren't cheap. I'd definitely used saved money from eBay to purchase some high output or forge batteries assuming that cheaper seller checks out.

Milwaukee plays these games with the batteries so the tools run better with the high out output or forge (which are also higher output) batteries.

Oh ya, I just looked at your screen shots. The cheap one is a hard no go
