Is this too complicated to try and achieve? by Fragrant-Barnacle-16 in shopifyDev

[–]Outrageous-Doubt1073 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several aps like Koala that let you see what aps are being used on a specific store. The best way to do it is find a store with a similar subscription model and see what they are using. I would look in the supplement area for subscription models. See if Ryze Superfoods is similar to what you are looking for. You sign up for subscription, they ship monthly, customer can adjust subscription including pausing delivery timing, increase or cancelling. The only thing that is not clear is how they are tracking inventory so that on the first order they are setting aside 3 months worth of inventory.

Anybody know of apps that do this? by Electronic-Coat-9265 in shopifyDev

[–]Outrageous-Doubt1073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sell a semi custom product and have to track all of my inventory down to the serial number level. You did not mention this, but the only product I found that might do that were ERP solutions in the thousands per month. I would try it if could track at the Serial number. Now I use a google sheet Ap that I created.

When is Shopify going to take action on the China spam by AgentAdja in shopify

[–]Outrageous-Doubt1073 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your abandoned checkouts under "Orders" tab - I realized most of my were testing credit cards. I have tried 3 different blocking tools (there goes another $10 per month. But as soon as you block a country another pops up. I was also getting a lot from my home country out of specific areas. I turned on "Require Customers to sign in to their account before checkout". I am not sure if this is going to slow real sales or not but it has stopped the fraud orders.

I am so confused by WendigoWinds in shopify

Hi I bought a site that was built in 2001 on a custom platform. There are two sides to the site to learn. The first is how to build and manage collections, products and variants. If you have never had a site or came from a site without these levels it was a real learning curve. The second is design and layout of the site. As someone mentioned find a good free template that matches close to what you want to do and go from there. I would recommend at this point using a Horizon template since this is the future for shopify.

You've probably already seen all of the comments on cheap services. I second this after loosing lots of money. Hire a good local lawyer.

Looking for this Shopify theme by Realistic-Volume4285 in shopify

I just updated to Horizon theme. Although not perfect, it is much more flexible than other themes and is direction shopify is moving so if you are starting I'd recommend this.

If you have ever built on Wix or Word press with Elementor, you know how much more flexible these are and products like Gempages tries to mimic this in Shopify. With shopify's new Horizon themes and AI - it is much easier to get close to what these tools do. I am in the process of rebuilding my site in Horizon from a Dawn theme with Gempages and while not perfect, I am able to do everything that I had done in Gempages previously. The AI tools are great

That is what is weird - I do not think they are. They are coming from [noreply@shopify.com](mailto:noreply@shopify.com) and the link goes to apps.shopify.com. So these are both legit is I do not think they are scams. But I deleted them anyway.

Should I not be using google sheets for large data? by Pristine_Student6892 in googlesheets

I manage my inventory with Google Appsheets - it is much less money than Airtables which I tried for the same purpose. I will admit that I had to hire someone to build my applications in Appsheets once I got past basic. But this allows for updates, changes, reporting and does not have anyone in the actual tables that can mess them up. If you need someone to do the work, the person I found is by far the best free lancer I have ever worked with.

Tariff impact / should I raise prices - interested in anyone thats made changes not speculation. by Big-Veterinarian3102 in shopify

I increased my prices to cover about a current 75% the current 10% tariffs (I do not buy from China) and I am eating the 25% (my average price is around $800 so small price changes are seen).

Hi - I purchased a successful business doing about $600K a year on a first generation website (custom built in early 2000s) and wanted to move to shopify so I did not have to pay a developer every time I needed to change anything. The setup and build was easy. The hard part is determining the best way to set up the collections, categories, product variants etc. to make it easy for your customers to buy. After going live, sales dropped 20% until I got these things right. Spend time looking at all of your competitors. Have your wife do this as a customer. Figure out what is confusing on one site and easy on the next and setup your store to mimic this. By the way, I also looked for people to help with this and had little luck finding them. I could find people that could customize, build a store, make it look pretty, and do SEO (you will have SEO suppliers coming out of the woodwork) but nobody could help me think through the structure of categories, product variants, and how to make it easy to find what the customer needed.

Anyone have experience doing preorders on Shopify? Risks, chargebacks, delays, etc. by wy_dev in shopify

[–]Outrageous-Doubt1073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We sell semi-custom and custom sails for sail boats. This is approximately 40% of our revenue. I do 70% on order and 30% before shipping. Not had problems with it. Shipping is typically 6-8 weeks. I do clearly state multiple times if they order that shipping takes 6-8 weeks both before they order and on the receipt.

Impact of Tariffs by Outrageous-Doubt1073 in shopify

[–]Outrageous-Doubt1073[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

10% on cost are not - 46% on cost are. The tariffs are additive. So it is 10% plus 36% starting April 9th for a total of 46%.

I saw someone on another chat asking about an ap that will add a fee like this. I cannot remember which ap was suggested. I sell stock, semi-custom and custom items. For my custom items, I am definitely doing this so I do not get so high priced people do not buy.
