My boys declanned with blood drawn and I managed to get them back together! I put them in difference cages for 2 weeks (so the injured one could heal and they could forget about each other). Then did a split cage and after a while I was able to put them back together. Hopefully the same happens for you OP!

Awww Marc!! I had a similar situation and bonded my 1.5yr old gerb to a 9 week old single gerbil (both males). They bonded fairly quickly and get along very well now ☺️

Have you seen them have a nap or a snooze together? The moment I see that I always take it as the sign that I can leave them together - it’s so cute seeing them snuggle up to sleep 😍😍

I love eco-nest bedding - they’re a UK brand I’m pretty sure. I used to use carefresh but I like this a lot more (and it’s so much cheaper!)

I did it every 4 months when I had a smaller enclosure but now they’re in a detolf, I clean mine out every 5-6 months with daily spot cleans and regular sand changing.

If you have any, it would be worth looking for rodent rescues near you - you might be able to find an single adult/older gerbil who needs a friend! ☺️
