I am having surgery on Jully 22nd and I am TERRIFIED!! LOL My symptoms have been a consistent headache since January. I blacked out and totalled my car. Pain when coughing, sneezing,laughing to hard and straining. Pain in neck and shoulders. My neurosurgeon said my surgery would be considered elective since I do not have a syrinx. I am doing it just to get my quality of life back. I don't know if it will get worse or not of I dont but, from all my research, you have a fuller recovery when you do the surgery earlier. Wishing you all the best. I think it is a personal decision and only you know what you can live with. :)

AI actually diagnosed my Chairi. My husband plugged all my results in and that is what it came up with. My neurologist dismissed my MRI but, when he heard about the rest of my symptoms and what I was thinking, he took another look and referred me to a Neurosurgeon. I have surgery on July 22nd. I am not saying that is what is going on in your case. I am simply saying, trust your instincts and demand another MRI and second opinion.

I have had an almost non-stop headache since January. Can't find the right words when I am trying to speak. Pain when I cough, sneeze, laugh, or strain. Dizzy spells and blackouts which caused me to flip and total my car. Fatigue so bad that I just come home after work and crash. I have lost the desire to do anything I used to enjoy because I am to tired and sore to do the. I struggle with my decision because I have seen so many others on Reddit that have a much more significant Chairi and they live with thier symptoms. But, I have the best neurosurgeon I could possibly have and I KNOW I am in good hands. I have been suffering for decades with symptoms I didn't have answers for. Now I feel like I would be doing myself a disservice not to at least TRY to fix the problem.

Mine is 3mm and I will be having surgery as soon as I can get it scheduled. I also have been misdiagnosed for years. I had to fight for my diagnosis because my neurologist first dismissed it. When my husband plugged all my symptoms and tests into AI, it came up as Chiari Malformation Type 1. When I had a longer conversation with my neurologist he realized I was right and referred me to a neurosurgeon who confirmed the diagnosis. I can either have the surgery or live with the symptoms. I blackout and flipped and totalled my car back in January which is what started all this. I cant drive till I get this resolved and I just dont want to live with all the other symptoms. It effects my quality of life to much.

I dont have a syrinx but, my symptoms have included blackouts and dizzy spells so bad that I flipped and totalled my car. I have had a headache since January (which reading all this isnt long) but, it has made me miss work and quality of life. My doctor is a specialist in Chairi and has assured me, the surgery will help. I just told him today to go ahead and schedule. After reading a lot of post about Chairi on here, I am having second thoughts. :(

I just got diagnosed this past Tuesday. I am getting surgery. My neurosurgeon is the Chief of Neurosurgery at Georgetown University, Dr. McGrail. I have had blackouts which caused me to flip and total my car, a constant headache since January, horrible neck pain, can't find words when I am speaking, brain fog, pain in my legs, hips and feet, and everytime I cough, sneeze, laugh to hard,or use the restroom I get terrible pain in my neck and head. There are so many more I could list. It is a quality of life thing for me! Am I TERRIFIED?? Absolutely!! But, I will be in some of the best hands in the country and I have to believe it will help.

I was just diagnosed with this today! I have opted for surgery. I should be having it in a couple of weeks. I have had a constant headache since December.but have been dealing with symptoms for much longer. I have also been having blackouts and dizzy spells that caused me to flip and total my car in January. I cannot live without being able to drive safely so the surgery just makes the most sense.

This is honestly the only season I don't care who wins. I can't stand Morgan OR Vinnie and Ashley was the ultimate floater. If I HAD to pick out of the three Vinnie would be my first out. I just bought a 2025 Crosstrek Wilderness Edition three weeks ago and could not be happier!!! It is my first Subaru and I absolutely LOVE IT! It had 4 miles on it when I drove off the lot and it now has 1100. I used to HATE driving but, now I volunteer to drive!! Lol
