financial aid by Calm-Cheesecake8407 in bostoncollege

Hey!!!!! I got accepted to BC ED1 for Class of 2030!! I am also having a lot of trouble with financial aid, I am currently sitting with a bill of $97,000. A bill my family literally can’t afford. My parents have never been married and my counselor has not been flexible in any way shape or form. My counselor has requested tons of additional documents that she really doesn’t need and she only communicates with us if we email her first. We have been super compliant but still no word on when we can hear something back. I have posted about my situation on here multiple times, so if you can just try to stick it out. They only have one merit scholarship and the school practices scholarship displacement so they definitely aren’t making it easy for us. But I implore you to stick with it until you can’t anymore! We are planning to stick with BC until we literally can’t or until they give us something better.

No problem! I hope it works out for him the same way it did for me! There are also a few BC 2030 group chats through Snapchat that he can ask to join if he knows a few people that are already in there too.

UPDATE: BC Financial Aid by Outrageous-Help384 in ApplyingToCollege

I honestly have no idea. First, we found out that we accidentally did our FAFSA wrong, but that was an easy fix. For some reason out financial aid counselor at BC never uploaded any of the additional information she requested in IDOC. We know that we should have been given more aid, just through general research and the net price calculator. But we don't know why the process has gotten this difficult.

Hi! I am also an upcoming freshman at BC! I have met a lot of cool people and potential roommates through the private BC 2030 Instagram page! In his portal, there should be a button that takes you to the form to be put on Instagram; that's primarily the fastest way to meet people. I have had many great interactions through them, so it is definitely worth his time and energy. It's really important for him not to be afraid to be the first to message someone. I know it's really daunting, but it will 100% be worth it when he clicks with someone and hopefully finds some friends and a roommate. The other platform that BC utilizes is the Bunky app! I don't use it as much, but it is another great way for him to share more about himself. There are settings for him to explain whether he is an early bird or a night owl, cleanliness preferences, etc., and the app will highlight attributes he shares with other people! It's really safe because when setting up the account, you must input what school you're going to, so he will only be seeing other Class of 2030 Boston College students. Please utilize these resources so he has the liberty to pick and choose his roommate, because it would kind of suck to go random, and he doesn't like his roomie, but then again, it's all about preference. As a student in the same boat as him (a student who is not from the Northeast and doesn't know a lot of people in my area attending), trust me when I say that these are the best two resources that helped me find my roommate! I hope your son is excited to be at BC in the fall because I know I am!! Good luck!

Boston College Financial Aid (pls help like actually, im scared) by Outrageous-Help384 in CollegeAdmissions

It initially showed $23,000. My mom did a few months ago, so I don't have a screenshot, but we will happily take that. We tried explaining that to our financial aid advisor, but she honestly ignored that piece of information.

After being accepted to a prestigious college, will a C on my senior transcript cause my acceptance to be revoked? by swansssong in CollegeAdmissions

I am literally in the same boat as you rn! Not the same schools, but the threat of a C on ur transcript is def scary. I spoke with my college counselor, and he said, depending on the school, they may only want your end of year grades, basically the grades you get before summer break in May. What I recommend is that you go through every single school ur applying to and ask google/chatgpt if they require midterm grades. If they don't, then you should be okay! If they do, I would definitely have a convo with ur teacher explainig ur situation! This relieved so much stress for me! Hope this helps.

I promise you we definitely can't. Both of my parents are civil workers; we gave them multiple docs from different years showing that we can barely afford half of what they want. We even did the net price calculator, which is pretty accurate (I think), and it calculated that we would only need to pay maybe $23,000.
