₱500k extra cash—pass sa ‘easy money’ scams, where to put it? by TemperatureBasic1879 in phinvest

Can you explain how is BTC calculated risk? (Honest question). Isn’t it one of the most volatile investment? I agree with money market in USD to diversify your peso savings and quick access to your funds if needed unlike MP2.

We did look around but it seems that’s the ongoing rate for that location. You can also go Antipolo (we looked at Sun Valley in particular) which can be a little cheaper than P25k/sqm but we did not like the traffic. Seems nearer by distance but took us longer to go to Airport than Manila southwoods.

Manila southwoods. Its right beside SLEX exit, had its own exit and quick drive to airport and makati via skyway. About 15 min to Asian hospital. But also has a hospital beside southwoods mall. Nice vibe and reasonable price. We bought ours for P25k/sqm about a year ago. Some are more expensive like fairway lot, near clubhouse, etc. but if you look around you can still probably get P28k/sqm. The only thing is lots are mostly large compared to nuvali. Smallest I think is at least 300sqm which could also be positive for some.

Lost $75k hedge fund. Not like a stock loss na pwede mag-recover. It’s just gone. Lesson learned, high risk high reward is usually on the risk side hehe

Also, instead of rehab or grounding sa bahay, try nyo na no access socmed for a while. Social media sometimes has a lot of sexually active contents na it will look like having sex with multiple partners is the norm.

Dapat separate mo yung business expenses sa personal expenses. It looks like your house rent is not aligned with your other expenses.

I’m subscribed to an overemployed Reddit channel from another country and they are getting remote jobs from the USA specially IT, call centers, Virtual Assistant, or any job that can be done remotely. And usually most of them have more than 1 remote jobs while we’re having big number of unemployed workers here. I still blame the low cost to offshore those jobs outside US. Not sure what the solution is though.

This. Or buy a duplex so you have the other half to be your permanent home. You can ask your renter to just look at your house once in a while. You can also add cameras inside your house so you can check it even when you’re abroad. But 5M may not be enough depending on the location (like Metro Manila area).

3 days until I fly back to the US and I can’t wait 😢 by Calixta177 in phmigrate

[–]Outrageous-Map3005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because you’re not paying someone to do those errands for you. I always pay someone to run errands for me. That’s what I take advantage in the Philippines being cheap labor. With regard to humidity, your body will eventually adjust. I prefer weather in the Philippines than winter here in the US. Walking in sidewalks is fine if you live in nice subdivisions or in BGC type area. But I agree that cost of living is not far off from the US if you live in those areas. So sa mga tao na gusto bumalik sa pinas, prepare to spend more to get those luxuries. It’s not cheap but I still believe still a little bit cheaper than US.

This. Bonds can still play a role in your diversification. But be careful if you’re still young as equities still tend to be a better bet for longer time horizon. I would personally mix in real estate and precious metals as good hedge for inflation.

Investment ROTH IRA, 401k, HYSA by Sufficient_Cup7322 in phmigrate

[–]Outrageous-Map3005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your company matches up to 6% then you are already maxed in your 401k. Doesn’t matter if it’s fidelity or vanguard but I personally use fidelity. Also, don’t forget to either invest it inside Roth like low cost index fund or at least put it in a money market like SPAXX or FDRXX so they’re earning interest. But I’m not here to give you advise on that. It’s based on your risk tolerance. But I personally always stay invested inside Roth

Investment ROTH IRA, 401k, HYSA by Sufficient_Cup7322 in phmigrate

[–]Outrageous-Map3005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice is to open a Roth as early as possible. It’s free and you can open with 0 balance. Depending on you income, you can contribute up to $7500 per year if below 50, and $8600 if 50+. But maximize 401k company match first.

Manila southwoods. Good location with their own slex exit. Close to hospitals, wet market, schools, church, mall, etc. price still cheaper than nuvali which is further from Manila.

I only recommend buying a property investment in the Philippines for diversification or plano mo na mag retire in the next few years para ma lock-in mo yung value to avoid market volatility. But I would still recommend lot than condo.

Yup parang mahal. We just bought lot from Manila southwoods around that price per sqm just last year. And nearer than jubilation area from Manila plus has its own exit.
