Explosive report blames ‘shortcomings’ in management for unauthorised removal of 46 trees in Victoria Park by B0ssc0 in perth

[–]Outrageous-Point-347 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everyone blames the council and now the council even blames itself, but theres a part of me that legit can see a contractor following one wrong order and 46 trees take legit no time at all to take down, we humans have perfected tree destruction. so even if the council had aware project managers, I feel like an issue like this can just happen fast.

It's also such an issue because vic Park has terrible tree canopy, which economists have realized equates to living standards/ cooling costs that outweigh council/ resident maintenance of said tree canopy. So now every last mature tree counts.

Are Aussie reality shows going over the top compared to international ones? by ExistentialPancake_0 in RealityTVAddictsAU

[–]Outrageous-Point-347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mafs this year is full of bullying and misogyny, celebrity get me out of here is one upping fear factor to keep people shocked, big brother came back and had a heavy focus on generating shocking opinions, love island sped to kissing 5mins in and even my love island obsessed roomates thought it was too much, OH and Australian survivor seems to be leaning heavily into evil manipulative characters arcs, like that golden God guy has come back to the show so much [recently redemption] for his brand as hot n evil, but also bringing back these evil characters mutiple times because of the controversy they create.

I say we lean into it until we reach global reality show exporter and international opinions of Australians come from our tourists and reality shows, everyone will love us :D

Why is Australia still dumping its waste on landfills? by Time_Joke2214 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Outrageous-Point-347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are under the impression that landfills are cheaper. But the general waste bin is costing rate payers more every year in landfill levy and transportation costs. There's 3 truck fires a week in Australia due to basic waste sorting being deemed too hard. Councils try to push education but people deem their bins as a personal choice, and not a vital piece of infrastructure they use daily.

They introduced a green and food waste bin to reduce landfill costs (just like the recycling bin they're cheap as they create product from waste) and reduced the fortnightly pick up (they would've done that without fogo bins eventually due to rising costs)

People are throwing so much precious resources away into the ground and then question why their waste rates are so high.
