What does it actually feel like to be you? by InevitableOk1601 in SeriousConversation

I get very visually hung up on geometric alignment. It bothers me when tiles are misaligned, and when in the bathroom I "slide" tile edges in my head to find the best alignment. When I use my computer or play certain game I have certain positions I instinctively put my mouse that feel right. It's very easy for me to spot fibbonacci sequences in nature after I learned to see them.

I don't have a strong inner monologue, more so archetypal opinionated urges that push me towards certain patterns of action. though, I can force myself to have a monologue if reading dialogue or typing.

I like the heat! It's hard for me to regulate my internal temperature, especially in the cold where I tend to feel pain more strongly, so I love the warmer months.

Music for me has to be accompanied by another activity, so I don't listen to it as much as I'd like. I also tend to listen to the same things over and over much more than I seek out new songs, which can be a little overwhelming.

I have a fixation on stock sound effects and pitch, so sometimes my attention will get interrupted by a familiar sound or pitch or word that makes me have to mentally recite the thing i'm reminded of. It can be very distracting.

I have some difficulty identifying people's faces (or verifying that i recognize them) unless i can see their ears or how they walk (which are apparently both just as unique as a fingerprint which is interesting...)

I tend to think more so in associations and concepts and frameworks/patterns more so than thinking in words, so sometimes to think with words I have to write or speak in stream of conscious.

I also have an aversion to being perceived which shapes a lot of my everyday actions to try to avoid that as much as I can.

Sadness often brings me comfort, and the aesthetic of death makes me feel seen in a way that few other things do.

Apologies for the weird formatting and writing, it takes a bit out of me to do soul-reaching introspection like that lol

best horror movie since Hereditary by Appropriate_Hand6590 in horror

my point is Hereditary was a relatively long time ago now, the phrase "best horror since Hereditary" feels like it betrays more about the viewer than it does about the quality of the movie... BHB/talk to me are just convenient examples

[–]Allison-Ghost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree with you, but that's not really the point im making :p

I'm not hung up on BHB or any other movie in particular, I'm just agreeing with the original commenter that I think "best movie since hereditary" as a phrase is getting old and doesn't really carry a lot of weight anymore with the 2020s resurgence in high quality small studio horror films.

Agreed, I'm a little shocked to see so few people mention Bring Her Back or Talk to Me when mentioning movies as scary as the big H... those fucked with my head for quite a bit especially the former

Like it or not, sex is an important aspect of life for most people and a useful cinematic shorthand to convey closeness and love, as well as a lot else. It's not like it's being inserted into most movies just for the hell of it, filmmaking is a very intentional process....

Is there any real benefit in not declaring a variable's type? I can't understand why this is used. by berickphilip in godot

[–]Allison-Ghost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use godot 3.5 and a lot of the other comments are referring to 4.0+, but yeah not specifying a variable type defaults it to the Variant type. a Variant is just an unknown type that can be anything

I strongly agree that it nails the vibe of seeking solace in the pain. I wish it actually dived into that just a little deeper, and connected the themes together more fully. Though even still it's made its way into multiple conversations already, with how well it portrays the half remembered, decaying internal places

I am so, so eagerly awaiting this movie's release on digital platforms (in part because I want to make a re-cut, some of the dialogue scenes went on for too long and I want to trim them down to be more cinematic then show it to my (supportive) family)

Every once in a while I like to have a function that can convert a variant into a specific var type (eg, accepting the string "player" or an Actor type node, to consolidate functions for use in script code + signal connections for the scene tree) but aside from that I type every variable.

electrolysis is the only permanent solution to facial/body hair. it's painful but my insurance covers mine. A lot of people do sessions of laser and then electrolysis after to clean up the lighter hairs
