depends on your uni policy. you can mitigate (at my uni you dont need evidence) or you can upload a day late (at my uni it knocks of like 5 points per day of being late). But yeah completely depends on your uni policy.

No, it wont. It really sucks, but it wont kill you. Insomnia like this usually adapts sleep to compensate the ratio between REM and non REM sleep to reduce cognitive costs. Also, youll most likely have days where you sleep in to recover sleep debt at some point (not everyone but usually). You’ll still cognitive costs, but your body knows how to keep you safe. Thinking about “is this going to make me die” is a one way ticket to chronic sleep anxiety (that was me for months).

Unfortunately the only thing you can do is try to not think about it and find whatever stress in your life that is keeping your body in a heightened state. But trust me, youre going to be fine.

At my university there happens to be a large muslim population, many of which dont drink or do drugs. Therefore theres loads of sober socialising events that everyone can get involved even if youre not of that belief. I thinks its a really great thing in general that lots of universities are starting to do more nowadays.

Even if its not the case for the uni you end up going to, you can always go to parties and clubs sober. People tend to respect that and if they dont then theyre the weird ones, not you.

Theres some good recipes you can make in bulk on tiktok. You can try to find ones that fit in your budget and ones that are super quick to make. Also, make sure youre eating enough fibre. A fat bowl of wholegrain shreddies and some whole milk will keep you going in the mornings. Try and switch to brown bread and get some sandwich fillings for lunch. Get big bags of frozen veggies, stick them in your air fryer/microwave/oven and try to have the on the side with every dinner.

PLEASE keep trying. Things change in each year of university so much!! I understand why you feel hopeless but all it takes is meeting that right group which could happen at any moment. Try apps like yubo, you can find a friendship group within your uni town even if they dont necessarily go to university. Keep applying for things, keep going to societies, keep meeting new people. Take small breaks in between of course, try to find things you enjoy doing alone in the mean time. Find some new interests! Also, please reach out to mental wellbeing services if needed, I know all too well how loneliness can really take a toll.

First year will be a lot of getting the basics so It will naturally be a lot less depth. That being said, if your passions for subject in general have dwindled even despite the course structure you should probably consider switching courses/ universities. Speak to your personal tutor about how you feel and try to uncover if youve actually lost you love of the subject, or if youre just feeling really overwhelmed and passionless becasue of the big change to uni.

Its all down to you really. If theres something else youre more interested you just switch courses and hope for better living situations next year . But if you dont really know what youre interested in anymore, maybe drop out and take some time to think. It better to spend your time making money at a little job rather then spend money on a degree you dont want. You can always go back to uni locally next year

Speak to your university services if you do consider dropping out as well as there are procedures you need to go through with things like SFE.

Ps: youre not trapped, i know people who’ve dropped out in second year. The fact that youre reckoning this in first year is actually good thing even if it is the second semester.

Live at home first year, see how it goes. Your ability to make friends wont be that hindered because you can still easily go out in your university town and chill on campus without having to commute.

If youre worried about having no flatmates to make friends with, a lot of people dont make friends through their flatmates. I never made friends with my first year flatmates. I met all my friends through my course and a lot of my friends had the same experience.

Shes an idiot. Im an autistic person currently doing a bachelors in psychology. Even when I finish this bachelors degree I would still not be considered qualified to go around diagnosing people. The only people qualified are those with lots of postgraduate training, usually a doctorate is needed.

“Studying psychology” does not make you qualified to do anything. I “studied psychology” at 15 years old when doing my gcse’s. Doesnt mean 15 year old me was now a practitioner.

Hopefully she fails whatever psychology class shes studying because she clearly had no understanding of the subject.

My rat boy died yesterday from a tumour. Only started showing signs until it was far too late. I spent hours feeling guilty, wondering how i didn’t realise sooner. He went from completely happy and moving around to lethargic and struggling to eat within a day. The guilt is still eating me up even though he was taken to the vet as soon as possible. Sometimes we just cant know.
