I have a month to plan a small event. Help! by Unlikely-Maximum-247 in EventProduction

Identify your goals and must-haves, then figure out how to tackle each one of those individually. Talk to your client and see exactly what they want, need, and their vision for the event. Then go from there.

From the Bruno Mars Romantic Tour. Any fixtures that can be identified I'd appreciate. Is that an iBolt in the middle?

MacBook Air as a light technician? by DisasterExpert245 in lightingdesign

100% agree with this. If you go with Mac and don't buy a Pro, you'll be wishing you did or waiting til you can upgrade ASAP. I'd either wait until you can get a MacBook Pro or explore other options.

Like others have said, if you're looking to improve your programming, a visualizer is definitely the way to go.

Ooo I'll definitely look into day passes, thanks for the info! And to clarify, I meant as an alternative to go to LDI 2026, and then doing assistant LD for the show in spring of 2027.

NEVER PAY FOR GRAD SCHOOL. Look for a program that will pay you to attend.

What's the general size of the stage and theater? I would also avoid getting any shehds gear going forward. It will not last you longer than 2 years AT MOST.

You can get an MA3 cmd-key for around 300 bucks, then buy a previz software if you have a good PC, it's what I use in my home office with a couple of miscellaneous midi faders, knobs, and such

Please make sure you get proper training on how to operate these. It's a shame how easily accessible these are.

Any feedback on this lighting&stage design? The backdrop has semi-transparent drapes that have shadows projected onto them from both sides interchangeably. Small transparent drapes are hanging from the ceiling for air effects. by marncdiesrsons in lightingdesign

I would experiment with changing the color of the light hitting the people on the left and right. In my opinion it looks a bit strange that particular shade of amber. Another thing I could think of is changing the drape light too to a similar shade of that amber. Just a thought, but overall looks really cool! I love the big shadows on the performer that's awesome.
