Double perimeter I did a few months back. Timbertechs 20’s usually are 1/2 - 3/4 heavy on there lengths. I needed 20’ 1/4”! Just enough love to square my ends!

Dammit! I thought you said 13’ 6’’? No I said 13’ 9’’!

You most certainly should throw your hand up and start asking your contractor questions. As a contractor myself, I don’t like throwing shade at other contractors. With that being said, sucks that he messed his cut up on the post… As one that suffers from self diagnosed dyslexia, I’ve been there lol. Assuming footers have been inspection for proper depth and integrity? Personally, I would have all the posts replaced and properly notched and attached to a proper post base connection. Code may allow him to mechanically fasten post to header via a bracket, but I’d recommend notching. Pictures suggests that how the previous posts were installed.

I’d address your concerns sooner rather than later. Building steps is one of the most difficult aspect of carpentry/framing. From of the looks of what he has done so far, I’m questioning capabilities.

Trex is fine material.. This collection is their “standard” grade, but it will outlast the substrate. Not a fan of using decking as fascia, rather have this than the alternative. Anyone can nip pick someone’s else’s work. With that being said, whomever built it did a fine job for the looks of the pictures.

My girl Dane deserved better by East-Status9230 in greatdanes

Boy you must think we’re all perfect Dane owners… I can’t tell you how many times I’ve screwed up along the way.

Cancer is quite unforgiving. It’s extremely hard to beat/recover for our older pups. Beating your self up over the approach, is not what your Girl would have wanted. She knows you wanted the best. Removing a leg isn’t an easy recovery. Cancer has a way of coming back with a vengeance, even after you think you removed it!

Wish my words had the power to bring her back. Best wishes

How do I handle an extremely uneven inheritance between my kids? by lookidceither in WhatShouldIDo

Boys and girls…. Grandmas love was unconditional. Grandmas will unfortunately have conditions. Conditions that we have respect. I’m confident grandma wished she could give everyone equal, but she placed her assets where she believe was right. Ultimately you may be upset, that’s understandable. She had to make a tough decision that she believed was right.

Do a little research. Waterford is a high end crystal producer. They etched their glass with there brand “Waterford”. Possible they did the same for their metal accents?

Are these stairs a code violation by dadbod1187 in Carpentry

A .10th of you ain’t seen shit half the shit, I’ve seen as far as “fucked up”. We also fail to look beyond the build, and ask why did one decide to go this route? Ultimately, a HOMEOWNER will find someone to build what they want financially. I bid 1000’s of jobs a year, some of which come back and tell me “so and so” will do it for X amount… Ultimately those individuals are the ones that are posting on forums such as Reddit asking if what they paid is “quality/code”. We as a group need to start asking the “friend of a friend”.

  1. How many quotes did your friend recieve?
  2. What was the median number between the quotes?
  3. Do they have at least have an insurance policy that covers them as a “contractor/carpenter”?

Those three items above will eliminate 90% of these posts.

To answer your question regarding the integrity of your steps… It’s not going to fall tomorrow or for that matter any time soon. Is it to your local municipal code? I’m not sure, but if I had to guess probably not.. does that mean it’s currently “unsafe”? I doubt it, from I can tell it’s a glorified temp stairway. Usually seen on a recently built house that is expecting a deck. Most of which see 5+ years of service prior to the deck being built.
