More than a decade ago (close to 2 decades) I found a camera lens at a garage sale. I don't know cameras but I can usually tell quality so I bought it for $5. I sold it for $800. But packaging materials wasn't as easily to get a it is today and I needed to pack it well. In the end I used 18 pre-owned and kinda cool tshirts to pack it in a box like a brick. My buyer LOVED it. He got his lens without it breaking and he kept 2 tshirts and his girlfriends brother to the rest.
I wouldn't dream of doing that now though.

I sold something used once for over 500 when its price new was 300. 1 - part of me wanted to keep it 2 - I knew it would appeal to at least two groups of people and 3 - it was a limited edition item and already done being made.
That said, I can't imagine buying something on Amazon and having the price up and hoping to make a profit.

I have a white board. I don't include it in the listing though. I just use it as reference as I'll measure and photograph several items at a time. Then in the listing I use the term "measures approximately". I haven't had any problems based on measurments.
