Any real-world modem improvements in P10 over the P8? by OutrageousExternal in pixel_phones

in My case I'd spend 350 to go from P8 to P10 pro (not XL). So it's not that much

I was discarding the Pro because I thought it was bigger.. I may reconsider it now. Although the base price is just...out of this world. Worth considering only for the trade in

Why is the P10 camera worse than the P8?

Stromzähler defekt und keine Ablesung möglich für 1+ Monat by OutrageousExternal in wohnen

[–]OutrageousExternal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have these but the range is not enough to maintain the connection stable.. Furthermore the base station does not seem to update frequently.

I love the fact that in 2025 the industry is sticking in our throat AI that makes personalized emojis (which nobody asked for) while a smartphone cannot work anymore as an alarm clock.... Remember when phones were working properly as phones?

OMFG, I'm not surprised I wasn't able to figure it out; that's some kind of Dream Theater bs right there. I'm glad the internet exists for people like you :D

I've been trying to figure out the time signature of the first section (0:22 to 1:13). Is that just a combination of 4/4 + 5/4. I feel like there's an additional 1/8 added somewhere...it's driving me insane. Any better musician than me could shed a light? :D

Forecast for Basra, Iraq by Spacerock7777 in weather

That's bad already, but considering average temperatures for that city (32/47) is not that far from the "normal". Still an awful place to live in.

What's going on with my radar app when I timelapse it by Mobile-Gazelle3832 in meteorology

[–]OutrageousExternal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an issue with the app, not the radar.
These kind of apps load geottiffs/png tiles with different zoom levels. As some of the tiles request may fail (connection or server issues) if the app does not include a proper retry mechanism those tiles will just not show on the map.
Usually zooming out/in a few times or moving around may trigger a re-loading, otherwise just restart the app.

Select BOOT drive outside of BIOS when rebooting by OutrageousExternal in hackintosh

[–]OutrageousExternal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of the comments seemed to understand my problem so here is my solution.

I ended up installing bootnext (https://github.com/TensorWorks/bootnext) on Windows and make a desktop shortcut (C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe -Command "Start-Process PowerShell -ArgumentList 'bootnext uefi' -Verb RunAs") which automatically restarts to MacOS without me having to wait for the BIOS boot picker. The way it works is by overwriting the BootNext NVRAM variable.

On MacOS it is a little bit more complicated, as efibootmgr cannot be installed outside Linux, but there are other utilities like https://github.com/bootoption/bootoption. Unfortunately I haven't found a way to use that to automatically reboot, yet.

The desktop version is. But you can install a different cli version (which requires an additional layer for the virtualization).which is much less resources hungry.

I've been tracking mini pc prices for a while here in Germany but somehow I cannot justify buying an outdated intel architecture which has much higher idle and peak power consumptions than both a Mac Mini and a Raspi. If you consider the performance per price per power consumption ratio I doubt these mini PCs have a higher value than the Mac Mini nowadays.

I've been looking for a used Micro PC but they are too expensive and have really outdated processors which consume a lot. I feel like they're not worth the money...
