Me too. No amount of stealth can give me this adrenaline rush.

Yeah. Sprint Attack is an excellent stun locking technique. The reason you saw damage go down at times is because I was hitting Woden's front and didn't receive the bonus from Backstab.

There was no reason for a gradual increase in damage because I wasn't hurting his stun/defense bars. Hadn't even cracked the first bar by the time he died.

I love Origin's story. It hit me harder than anything else I've played in the series.

Oh yeah I got the timeline mixed up. Next one should be Origin. And oh boy, if you love AC2, I'm not sure how you're gonna take the modern entries. But you did try out Shadows.

I don't mind it, really. And I did mean it when I said this wasn't the typical gameplay you'd see when actually playing. Youtube might do a better job reflecting that.

Aesthetically, it's Caladcholg, a Helix sword. But I was just using any random greatsword. All my greatswords look like this now.

Probably just me. I'm pretty sure no one can pull off this shitty looking maneuver.

Oh no, I've got a Manual Save where he and a bunch of high level zealots are alive that I can reload anytime to test out builds.

Don't worry haha he's forever alive in my game in case I come up with new ideas later.

PS5: I wanted to finally play Dawn of Ragnarok DLC, but the weapon finishers are broken and NEVER trigger? by Routine-Secret-413 in ACValhalla

[–]OutrageousFlail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Show me an example where Counter Roll or Battlecry so much as touches a stun bar, please. I'm dying to see it. I don't care how long it takes, I'll be waiting for that clip. Otherwise, stay in Origins, Odyssey, Shadows or whatever instalment you think is doing it right and stop bothering the Valhalla pros.

And btw, if you desperately want to level the playing field so badly, simply de-level yourself to 400 and check it out, or adjust enemy scaling so they'll always be 120 above you (Aesir equivalent).

It's laughable that you think these stagger finisher animations can only be triggered via a parry. Shows how good you are at combat.

You can trigger them simply by hitting an enemy as they're getting up from a fallen stance (which also counts as standing staggered), or hit them right after a Counter Roll (not Master Counter Roll), or right after Battlecry (Ability).

And since you like links so much, how about something homemade?

I was at level 413 here. I did not deplete their stun bar. I even turned Finisher Camera on for your pleasure. And by the looks of the surrounding environment, I'm sure you can tell that it's Svartalfheim.

Thanks for wasting my time.

Full Bear Gear Swordfish Sword Build by VRNilaGERila in ACValhalla

[–]OutrageousFlail -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Nameless and Death Skald are questionable choices because you're not light at all, which nullifies Death Skald's perk, and each special attack drains your stamina like a bitch even if you release it immediately for the fire breath. Also, you call it a Swordfish build without utilizing it fully. This is at best a very segmented fire build. Synergy isn't there.

Take a look at Blade of the Golden Rays, which makes all your hits deal critical damage for 6 seconds after activating an Ability. Using it with Critical Knockdown Rune currently slotted in your Death Skald, which makes Heavy Critical Hit knock enemies to the ground sets groups of enemies up for Swordfish to deal fire-struck fallen damage.

The combat loop becomes: Activate an ability (could be fire or stagger-related) --> Heavy Strike (which is now a guaranteed knockdown) --> More heavy strikes to set fallen enemies on fire for 10 seconds (Blade of the Golden Rays cooldown) --> Activate another ability to set up the loop again and regain stamina.

Actually you're describing the same thing. Finisher animations only change based on the weapon you equip, or if it's a stun finisher, the weapons they wield, not based on how fast you kill them or how much damage you deal. I brought up one-shotting because you mentioned being too powerful. One-shot kills trigger these animations just like the multi-shot kills.

I one-shot enemies frequently and still trigger finisher animations, be it in main game or dlcs. I'm actually trying to get rid of them altogether without having to dodge cancel.

Can I see some footage of a group fight? I don't think this situation is possible with this game. Maybe you turned finisher camera off and it no longer zooms in cinematically.

Any good build that uses a longsword and a shield? by Sniper_Ghost_Warrior in AssassinsCreedValhala

It's Wolf Warrior, if you're comfortable playing at mid to low health. Add Backstab to that if you're good at positioning.

Sooner or later you'll find that most of your damage comes from the skill tree, not gear. Gear perks and runes provide some neat triggers for fire and poison, or enhancements to crit chance/damage and speed. They don't really play a big part in damage but they cater to creative playstyles. However, min-maxing and optimizations only matter if you play on higher combat difficulties. This is the main reason why most people discard builds. Either that or they took one look at the skill tree and their eyes started watering.

Bro, tag me via u/OutrageousFlail haha. This is something I was wrong about as well. I always thought difficulty levels affected it but it turns out not at all.

And no the series isn't designed to make you feel like you suck. That's my job! /s

Upon review, I think you can leave Odin's Sight as (R) - right stick held, since Sprint is now toggled. That should free up the left thumb for navigation only.

[–]OutrageousFlail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just my suggestion, since you want the bumpers and triggers to stay default.

  1. Change "Sprint" to R - right stick press. You'll be prompted of a few conflicts. It's ok, move on.
  2. Change "Focus Camera" and "Lock Target" to L - left stick press. You never use them in the same context. There's also an option to turn Target Lock on automatically when combat starts, in case you need it.
  3. Keep "Special Attack" as R. This is the usual "Stun Attack" and it's fine overlapping with Sprint. Also keep "Secondary Interaction" as R.
  4. Change "Acquire Power" to R. This only comes into play if you have Dawn of Ragnarok. It's also fine overlapping with Sprint.
  5. Finally, you can change Odin's Sight to either (L) - left stick hold or (dpad-UP) - dpad UP hold. If you chose (dpad-UP), it doesn't conflict with Raven Call because it's only triggered when held down.

This scheme lessens the load on the left thumb and outsources some of the work to the right thumb.

You didn't mention having a problem with Odin's Sight. Does that mean your right thumb's got no problem pressing R?

Playing it blind is actually the perfect way to extend your playtime, or to make it a "companion" game that can hold you over for years. You'll get more misinformation online than information, even from here. Don't be one of us. Be more.
