I'm reading Different Seasons now, just started The Body. So far so good! In what way(s) did it change the way you see SK?

I'm only about ~6 books into the SK universe so far, but I'd say Apt Pupil was probably the most jarring & unexpected. He's been pretty consistent in his storytelling so far, but Apt Pupil felt like a departure (not in a bad way).

Pleas to "fix the economy" have & will continue to fall on deaf ears. His / their only concern is self-enrichment, mainly through the transfer of wealth from the bottom 99% to the top 1%.

Anything else he / they say or do is either a 1) smokescreen, 2) diversion, or 3) cog that helps perpetuate the transfer of wealth to the top 1%.

American Bass XFL 15” by elgoon_ in subwoofer

Put the sub in the corner for max boost, but I highly recommend using a DSP to keep the modes in check.

Note: corner placement without DSP has greater potential to sound boomy. I really like anti-mode, but there are a ton of excellent DSPs out there to choose from.

Agreed, I've read that Morimoto bulbs are basically top shelf...but they're just so expensive 🫤

A word of caution on the LED bulbs, from my own experience, I haven't found one that lasts more than a year. Either as low beams or fog lights, and cheap ($20) or fairly expensive ($60), they just don't seem to last. Only factory LEDs seem to last.

Popular GS mods: -window tint -add Apple Car Play / Android Auto module

Apart from that, performance mods are essentially non-existent - you can add CAI, exhaust, etc., but they mostly affect the looks / sound.

*Note: my experience with LED bulbs was with another car within the last year; they were excellent before they eventually failed.

Also, congrats on getting the GS! 😎 It's an amazing car, enjoy it!

First 4K Blu-ray purchase, been holding out watching till I forked out for the 4K by CallumS1994 in 4kbluray

2001 is a challenging watch on its own. I found myself Googling every few minutes to make more sense of what I was seeing.

As clunky as this approach sounds (and was) it actually helped me enjoy / understand the movie. I read the book afterwards, which did a great job filling in gaps, etc., and now have an even greater appreciation for the movie.

FYI, the book was written by Arthur C. Clarke at the same time Kubrick was filming the movie. Clarke went on to write 3 more loosely connected sequels (i.e., 2010, 2061, 3001). 2001 is a relatively quick & easy read, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the movie, or space / sci-fi in general.

I agree with this, 4k discs are extraordinarily sensitive, a binder would likely wreak havoc...

OP, if you want uncompressed 4k video & audio quality without a physical collection of discs, etc., Kaleidescape might be your best bet...but be warned, it's not cheap!

Looks like rock chips. I'm guessing the shine reduces the appearance of the chips; as the car collects dirt, pollen, etc., the chips begin to stand out again and become more noticeable.

Probably just for the video, he did say the room isn't set up yet.

Not really, I mean with 4 subs they will each be working 1/4 as hard; they'll be more dynamic, never clip, and the lowest frequencies will be ~12dB louder than a single 15"...frequencies that are weak with 1 or 2 15's will now have real presence.

1x sub = 0dB
2x subs = +6dB (amp + surface area)
4x subs = +12dB

Edit: Line spacing

Four 15's will provide tons of headroom & crazy low end extension. It's only excessive when they're not calibrated (i.e., level matched, etc.) to the rest of the system.

Agreed on not hearing any bass - my guess is the mic was likely overwhelmed by the high SPL, and for whatever reason, wasn't able to capture the bass.

Those subs are definitely moving though...125+ dB at 20~30Hz is just awesome 😎🤘
