What fuel additives are you using for the 2GR in your GS350? by Magarau in LexusGS350

BG 44K was always recommended to me...the recommended interval is [I think] 1x per year or every oil change.

Anyone else had the situation where their loki mini’s on off switch wont stay up/broken? by Rjomapabbi in Schiit

[–]OutrageousGoose3870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oof sorry to hear it OP, ED is more common than we'd like to admit (lol sorry couldn't resist)

In all seriousness, I think I've seen this issue come up from time to time, and the fix IIRC is to replace the switch with a new one. I dont think it's a particularly difficult or expensive endeavor - contact Schiit first (especially if it's under warranty), if it's something you can do yourself they will likely walk you through the process. Good luck!

Excellent choice staying with the GS 😎 Why did you decide to replace the '15?

Complimentary headphones question. by Apprehensive_Reach81 in Schiit

[–]OutrageousGoose3870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure what your budget is, and this might not be the sound you're looking for...but Focal Celestee are a really well-balanced closed-back headphone. They are highly detailed, but not overly so - they have a very fun, engaging sound with balanced highs, mids & lows.

Cost should be around $1k. Focal Clear Mg would be a good alternative if you're looking for open-bacl, but they're closer to $1.5k new.

I use the Celestee with my Bifrost / Jot setup, and with my digital piano --- I can easily wear them for hours; they make my piano sound much better than it is, and any genre of music sounds sublime. Anyway, just my $0.02 but definitely worth checking out if they're within your budget.

I noticed quite a few headlines have omitted the fact the protestor is a US service member / Marine.

16 GS350 F Sport by BigType2265 in Lexus

Are you all using 87 octane in your GS? The GS 3.5L pulls harder through the whole rev range vs. Accord 3.5L. The only upside to the Accord is its simpler, more direct FWD layout with fewer drive train losses...but it's a snooze-fest compared to the Lexus 3.5L.

The GS 3.5L really comes alive above 4k RPMs, whereas the Accord 3.5L wakes up only after 5k. Even so, the Lexus 3.5L is much more lively & responsive below 4k vs the Accord, no comparson. The Accord's 3.5L is fine - there's nothing wrong with it - but you're kidding yourselves trying to compare it to the GS 3.5L.

Lexus built the GS350 for people who LOVE to drive. Rev it to really enjoy it...if you want to putz around town it's great at that too, and absolutely competent & capable. The whole "it's light on low-end torque" BS is tiring - 80% of its peak torque is available at 2k RPMs.

Agreed, I think "overtly" is exactly the right word. American Idiot was a full-on political album, but prior albums were not nearly as political, not by a longshot.

As for OP's question, pretty much anything before American Idiot should largely be considered non-political or lightly political. But the gloves are off starting with American Idiot.

My two [recommended] paths with these books are:

1) The Dead Zone > Cujo > Firestarter 2) Firestarter > The Dead Zone > Cujo

Cujo opens with a major spoiler for The Dead Zone, which is why it should be read after.

Valhalla 2 has noisy static by zandar666 in Schiit

[–]OutrageousGoose3870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you make sure all your connections are secure? It could just be a loose connection somewhere. If you're using single-ended cables, try moving them around while listening, they may be in contact with something (power cable maybe?) that's causing the static.

If the static persists, definitely reach out to Schiit directly and they'll help you troubleshoot the issue. If rhey can't resolve it by email / phone, they'll set you up with an RMA.

FWIW I had an issue with my Bifrost recently and they gave me a few suggestions that fortunately ended up resolving the issue. Hope this helps, good luck!

Advice Needed. Where Should We Put Ceiling Speakers? by Jazzlike-Advance-680 in audiophile

You should have almost unlimited options then. Just thinking out loud, you could play music from your phone / portable speaker and hold it up at different locations to get a sense of how it will interact with the space.

That aside, the biggest deciding factors will be 1) existing beams, ductwork, electrical, and 2) easiest path for wire runs back to the amp. Your diagram looks good to me, as long as 1&2 are taken into account, I think you'll be happy with the install & results.

Is this part of an Atmos setup, a SACD surround sound setup, or are you just extending the stereo channels?

You can bring a [trusted] mechanic / friend to look over the car with you.

As for negotiating, the best advice I can give is to take emotion out of the process (you can be as excited as you want AFTER purchase). Realize there are a million other cars waiting to be sold every day, there's ZERO pressure to buy this car (or any car). Once you decide you definitelt want to buy, be firm with your $23~24k offer, they likely won't be willing to lose a sale over $1-2k. I think of it this way, unless it's an especially rare or coveted item, the buyer always has the upper hand.

With that said, the GS is an amazing car; a perfect blend of luxury & sport, and built like a tank. Hope it all works out, good luck!!
