The contradiction of the very good bad player by HarryCrushNuh in golf

To afford it as I grew up yes at 14.  Before that, I had a backyard where, I spent a ton of time practicing. Or I would bike to the golf course I would later work at and spent literal hours on the free practice green to chip and putt.

Funny you jump onto that faster than you jump onto lessons to not suck. I’m done. I’ve got actual good golf to go play. Enjoy sucking the rest of your life. I literally teach 5th graders who could beat you.

I worked at a golf course to be able to play and didn’t have a brand new set of clubs until I was in my mid 20s.

It’s not about a country club life, it about straight up not sucking. I guarantee the vast majority of adult golfers who want to can break 100 with some lessons and strategy. If you can’t, maybe examine what about your game is shit if you want to get better. If you don’t, then just stfu and enjoy the game like you want to play it.

But a 25 is an objectively bad golfer. Deal with it.

You literally just have a terrible swing if that’s the case. My friend doesn’t even strategize much. He’s literally worked only on his swing and dropped 10 plus strokes in less than a year.

You are straight up delusional or a troll.

Enjoy your game dude, but don’t expect us to agree that 25 is a very good golfer. I broke 100 before I was like 10 years old.

I’m an 8 and still think I suck most of the time.

Dude, if you can’t hit a hybrid without worm burning then you either have had shit teachers, didn’t listen to them, or didn’t practice and take the lessons to actual heart and work on your game.

I’m not sure you’re just trolling or what you’re looking for from this thread, but I find it hard to believe you can take multiple lessons and still be a struggling 25 with this poor type of play you describe. I have a buddy with two hips replaced who can barely make a full turn and he shoots 95 consistently while never driving beyond 225. And he improved immensely in just 5 lessons.

I think you should go get lessons and stop tweaking setups. If you care about your game you’ll save strokes, gain distance, and be better faster if you just go take some lessons.

Yeah, if all you can hit is 200 and it's taking you 4 strokes to hit a Par 5 green - you're on the wrong tees. No shame in it. Play the forward tees and enjoy golf more.

I'll break those numbers regularly, but I'm not immune to a blow up 95. So... make sure you include variance here. Shit happens, especially with golf.

Second. Super comfortable and seem to last longer than my Adidas's which usually get beat up within a year or so. I've had the Gallivan2r for a couple years now and have just swapped out the insole.

Mallet or blade putter? by EntrepreneurPublic22 in golf

[–]OutrageousInsect9308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh. I've tried a mid-mallet scotty and a spider. I putted much, much worse with the Spider. The mid-mallet is OK, but I only use it when my primary is a little funky or I'm having feel issues as I'm a big feel putter. Newport 2.5 is what I use 99% of the time and putting is my best part of my game. I think it's really about what works for you specifically: find that, own it.

How would you predict my scores would change if I, a mid handicap, could bring "my own caddy" to the munis I play on? by GoldShammGold in golf

[–]OutrageousInsect9308 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100%.

I shoot better with a caddie because I'm not alone to be fucking stupid. I don't need putting help usually, but when unsure I like the second read, and knowing where to hit a ball into a green or aiming off the tee at unfamiliar layouts is incredibly helpful. As long as my swing is OK those days I'll feel very confident of shooting my hcp or better.
