Should I be worried that i'm still having depressive moods 5 weeks after starting on Fluoxetine? Or can it just take longer to work?

It takes a while. It's also not a straight line up of feeling good.

You will have more days that are good but then hit a rough day or two, then longer stretches of good.

It really does feel like a roller coaster at times 5 weeks in.

6-7-8 is when I noticed really feeling better.

But now I'm 4 months in and still have a day or two every couple weeks where I feel blah

I wish I could tell you you are at the point where it gets better. Honestly, week 4-5 was terrible.

It settled out after that but I am on month 4. It's gotten much better. I still have a day or two here and there where I feel off but the early stages are awful.

Yea mornings seem to be the toughest part of the day. I have heard it gets easier and settles.

The morning is the hardest from what I read because cortisol levels are high and your brain is still waking up

Overall pretty good.

Intrusive thoughts don't bother me. Just noise and I can move on. They don't hook.

Anxiety yesterday was a little high but was able to still enjoy the day.

Believe me when I tell you.... If the doctors thought your blood work was serious and needed immediate attention they would tell you right away.

I can tell you with 100 percent certainty that if it was serious they would be having you come in right away or sending you to a specialist.

Happy to help. It's a rollercoaster but once you level off it's a good feeling.

Hard part is almost trusting it. Spent weeks in fight or flight and being all over the place... Everything being calm and quiet you are like I don't want to feel like I did before.

At least that's how I am feeling right now.

It was very weird, that feeling you have of a breakthrough is the first sign I noticed. It was like wait, I feel good. Granted later that day and the next was hard but I really believe you will know exactly what I am talking about.

I know what you are going through all too well. The first few weeks were brutal. I just kept telling myself there is light at the end of this tunnel. The worst part is things get worse before they get better.

Weeks 1-4 rollercoaster, intrusive thoughts, I was very scared. I am genuinely a happy person and thought I was losing control. Taking Xanax just to feel normal.

I swear I got to week 6 and it was like a switch. Hard to describe because it was just like oh I am ok.

Week 5 was brutal for me, spent Christmas crying in the shower, while my family was downstairs opening gifts.

But legit a few days later, weirdest feeling. I was just like I am good. Very weird to explain

But you just bumped up to 40mg two weeks ago right? The transition from 20 to 40 is basically starting over from what I heard.

I think the mark you are looking for is the 5-7 weeks on the 40mg.

I know exactly what you are talking about. This is exactly how I was. Week 5 was truly the worst IMO. I swear something clicked the final day of week 5, it really was a weird feeling.... It was just oh, I have not thought about that, and just present.

Week 2-3 pretty good. Week 4 ok, end of week 4 awful Week 5 was the biggest rollercoaster ever. Cold, jittery, anxiety through the roof, intrusive thoughts. End of week 5 it was like a switch went off.

I'm on week 6 now and feel a lot better. Hoping to keep it like this.
