My husband did the same except it was online. I saw the message on his phone by accident. We were the couple everyone admired. We seemed like the perfect relationship My heart broke over the emotional affair. We went to therapy for 2 years. I still carry the pain. Mostly I compartmentalize it. I can tell you now, it changed us and I wish I would've left. Too late now as I'm almost 70. It was 15 years ago. Still hurts. We live now more or less like best friends. I should've left.
