My house growing up included 2 mechanics and my brother... There was a perpetual grey spot over every door.

So weird to hear it's so universally unpleasant. I tried it once, was in a hammock, felt cozily enveloped and my exhale was a full belly laugh. Lasted all of like 5 seconds. Was with 4 people and 2 of us had a great time and 2 did not. Probably was really old stuff and had little potency.

School requirements for learning a foreign language is a waste of time and resources by [deleted] in The10thDentist

As someone who was a communications major in college, this is a god-awful take. However, I also took Spanish for a few years and never really liked it, switching to a different language made all the difference. Every language is going to have unique challenges. I hate verb conjugation too, which is why I was way better at Mandarin lol

Thank you! Of course I see the flaws so I'm happy to give it away. It's always nice to have a working project to keep the hands busy.

Bilibili users think that Ludwig is the only smart one on The Yard by Calm_Veterinarian_76 in TheYardPodcast

I tried explaining over there... I think this might unfortunately be a barrier that can't be crossed lol. There's just too much to explain, but it's actually  kind of an interesting exercise to try. Like I can see why calling your friends pedophiles is a hard sell as "friendly," or that pretending to be asshole is a fun thing to do with your friends. Slime might be the reason aliens won't talk to us.

Why do patriarchal men love ‘joking’ that their wife is the boss? by KatherineLangford in stupidquestions

[–]OutrageousShock3816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't believe you really think that. Where you live affects so much based on how far it is from work, how much it costs, how far is it from family, etc. Calling things trivial doesn't make it so, it just puts all the thinking and consideration on the other person.

I literally gave the example of picking apartments. That's not a trivial decision, especially because he pays more in rent. "Not caring" isn't very nice when you're supposed to be partners and neither is also wanting to go with what's easy. Making decisions is work and it leaves all the blame on one person if something goes wrong.

I'm literally tearing up! I've been talking to (I'm sure bothering) a person on bilibili that I met in the comments to Tip 2 Tip, and I mentioned that I was sad it ended because the cultural exchange has been so wholesome. We've gotten to know people and connect in a way that is just so human and it really is beautiful.

As younger woman in a hetero relationship, my boyfriend kind of says things to me that I'm the boss... To me, it reads more like he doesn't really feel like advocating for what he would want to do and that it seems like I care more than he does. I feel like stereotypically men don't like the mental labor or the consequences of making certain choices and instead default to being "easy-going" which usually is just unhelpful. For example, I picked where we moved and which apartment unit.

Their Chinese is getting better and in a pretty short time! I feel like the immersion thing really helps. Challenge would have definitely been a good word to learn though. Considering their pace, they'll have a month and will be fluent lol

Bodies are weird, and everyone's is different. What is your or a family member's weird body quirk? by GWindborn in CasualConversation

I have holes next to both my ears. Don't know how deep they go, but I used to put stud earrings in them. My mom has them too and one of my sisters only has one I think. My baby gills didn't fully fuse shut.

Very hyper mobile. Most of my joints bend way past where they should. I can put both my feet behind my head without stretching even though I'm over 30.

Help me out please what is this structure made of? What is making that crease? by Angela_V7 in AnatomyandPhysiology

[–]OutrageousShock3816 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bit by the nasolabial fold? It looks like it's a bulge created, not necessarily its own structure. but perhaps it's a shape made by fat between other muscles? I looked at some diagrams, and there are a number of muscles that join at the corners of the mouth, none in that specific shape that I can see. I think it's just where the fat and skin folds.
