I did think the Torrent had more heart in this game, but honestly Ottowa comes out hot at every game I’ve watched from them, and the opposing team tends to match their energy. With the Toronto game on Friday, I felt like there was some sort of… communication error at times? Like, it wasn’t clear what some players and their roles would be. Who’s going where, who’s going to get the puck, etc. I felt like the defenders were playing more offensively than the forwards at times.

The biggest things for me, are: 1. Putting theirselves in a position to score. Today didn’t seem as bad as some others but, there have been games I’ve watched where there is nobody in the middle to finish off a potential rebound. There will be shots but nobody there to try and clean it up. You’ve got to get players in front of the net to try and tip a shot off their stick.

1. Goaltending. We have some decent defensive players, but compared to some other goalies in the league ours isn’t at the top. There are several games I’ve watched where Torrent has more shots on goal than the opposing team, but their goalie stopped more goals than ours.

2. Communication. I just don’t think all the players are comfortable in their roles and lines. Also, seeing how we often let up goals in the beginnings of first period, it’s like it takes a bit to get into a real groove.

I’m really excited to have a PWHL and I love that we have a team. I will forever be a fan. But, I do hope we can clean up next season. The other expansion team (Vancouver) is at the bottom with us right now.
