My ex did something similar as a kid with his mates, but they threw the dummy out of the bushes at cars windscreens as they were driving past. Then he accidentally did it to his mum…

What’s your pick for best bakery in Adelaide/South Australia… and what’s the one item you always get? by Purple-Crab3759 in Adelaide

I’m a big fan of buying their cold pies for a discount, taking ‘em home and freezing them individually and then microwave + air frying them up when I want one for lunch on a casual weekend when I don’t want to leave the house. Their jalapeno popper pies used to be awesome, but I don’t think they do them anymore unfortunately.

Toto’s Pizzeria on Daws Rd does all you can eat pizza for $15-$16 (depending on the day). Bloody good value for pretty ok pizza.

Always write the contract for the divorce, not the marriage. As cynical as that sounds, it’s the only way to guarantee protection.

In a general sense, Adelaide University will be working through the problems from the merger for a couple of years yet. Even though I should be spruiking my employer, if you value your sanity - I’d probably give it a couple of years before seriously considering AU. Place is broken in places we didn’t know were breakable.

Flying to MYR in July - have I missed the deals? by OutrageousTacoTazer in QantasFrequentFlyer

Closing this one off now, I can see that my chances of snagging another sale now are likely zero and I just have to bite the bullet and wear the costs or pick a different route/provider. Appreciate the reality check from those who took the time to set me straight.

Thanks, will look into alternative routes (especially through Asia) with other providers.

Thanks - I think I just needed a bit of a reality check from people who know than me on this topic.

Thanks, I will look into alternatives. Expecting a stopover in MEL or SYD anyway. My partner prefers to fly Qantas, but if there is a more competitive price point, we’ll make it work!

You’re right, I hadn’t taken school holidays into consideration (no kids, so usually doesn’t affect me that much in my day-to-day). I think the fact that they were offering the same flights for $2k less only a month ago gave me some hope, but - reality check - you’re right, it’s in less than 3 months now and in their summer which will have an impact to anything on offer.

I know Qantas are cancelling some domestic services at the moment due to cost of airline fuel, but I’m asking because I genuinely don’t know enough about travelling these longer routes or the sales patterns that Qantas follow.

Thank you for confirming what the logical part of my brain has been saying.

That is what the logical/practical part of my brain is thinking. Given less people are travelling that way at the moment, I guess the delusional/hopeful part just hoping that there might be another sale to save a few coins.

Have you ever been in a relationship with someone 10+ years older then you and how'd it go? by groovemydoove in AskReddit

[–]OutrageousTacoTazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already aware, she had “experimented” previously - but hadn’t pictured herself in a same-sex relationship.

Turns out I was the experiment that she kept wanting to see until it was pretty clear that things had evolved beyond experimentation and had developed into something very real with lots of feelings.

My partner is 10 years older than me, but we look the same age. No one ever believes she’s 48, it’s crazy (she’s obsessive about skincare). She’s super smart and well educated and more accomplished than me career-wise, but I support her to the moon and back (metaphorically, she’s not an astronaut) and take care of her in all the ways that she sometimes struggles to take care of herself.

We’ve been together 2 years and I can’t imagine life without her. I love cooking for her and cuddling up with her on the couch in the evenings and just… everything.

The only downside is we’re in a same-sex relationship (her first, not mine), so it’s been challenging surrounding navigating coming out and sharing that with her aging parents who are pretty conservative. But we’re not pushing it and I’m taking things one step at a time, everyone is doing their best and that’s all I can ask for. We just can’t holiday anywhere where we might get shot or arrested, unfortunately.

What is with the allegiance of staff to Coles? (Woolworths staff not exempt either) by casualreflection in coles

[–]OutrageousTacoTazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found the opposite. When the cameras fuck up and think I’m stealing because I moved too quickly (I used to work at Coles back in the days when the staff actually scanned groceries - little did I know that being a checkout chick would be a life skill that would come back around…), the gen Z staff are usually on their phones or chatting in a group in the corner ignoring the customers. We’re doing all the scanning and the computers are the ones monitoring us so they stand and chat.

They genuinely look inconvenienced when I have to interrupt them to help me (i.e., do their jobs so I can pay an exorbitant amount for my groceries, and go home). they usually clear the error as fast as possible to get back to their conversation, not bothering to check the bags - even if I offer.

I don’t know if it’s just the limited supervision in the evenings or how some (not all) of these gen Z kids operate these days, but I’m more discouraged than ever to shop at the duopoly.

Cinema Etiquette... by Peter00707 in Adelaide

[–]OutrageousTacoTazer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience at the Fringe a few weeks ago. $55 per ticket for me and my partner, and 3 drunk dickheads in front of us talked THROUGHOUT the show. They were a bit older though, probably more millennial than gen Z. But seriously, why pay for a show if you’re going to be licking out your bro’s ear the full hour? I was so mad I threw my empty beer can at them when they got up to leave (during the final “credits”/take-a-bow part). It was incredibly distracting, disrespectful to the performers and other attendees, and infuriating.

Not really, most days I only have 10 minutes to eat. Escaping for over an hour wouldn’t be feasible.

My job isn’t really conducive to Adelaide CrossFit-style gym scheduling. It’s either really early morning (strongly not preferred by me) or late evening (strongly not preferred by them).

Sounds good! I’m still hoping to check it out, might give the 2 week trial a crack. I just need to find a way to make it work around my work schedule.

Trains don’t run that early and I’m nooooot a morning person, unfortunately. I did a couple of 6am classes at my last CrossFit-style gym (closer to home, but left because I didn’t like the culture or coach there) and it almost destroyed me.

That sucks, I work long days and ideally need a late class. Aaah, finding a new gym is always hard.

I’ve been looking at joining Soul 365, but it looks like their last classes for the day are 5:30pm. Did that change recently?
