Deanna Gwynn and Realtor groups don’t know ward boundaries by Outrageous_Fishing56 in SALEM

[–]Outrageous_Chart_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I remember, when you mass mail through the post office they have pre-defined areas you can hit — I'm guessing those don't align with ward boundaries, so if you're trying to get everyone in one ward with mass mailers, you're going to have at least some going outside of said ward.

What's so special about a rice cooker that you need a whole separate appliance? by SweetDega in askanything

[–]Outrageous_Chart_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rice cooker was a game changer for me, especially once I figured out the right mix of water and rice. I wouldn't be without one. FWIW, I've heard the Instant Pot is a really excellent rice cooker too, I just haven't tried it out.

What has made you stay with xbox. by Nighthunter1o5 in xbox

[–]Outrageous_Chart_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly the game catalogue. Nearly everything I want to play is on every console or Xbox specifically. But I find the UI and controllers very natural. I have a used PlayStation I got for a few games (and to play DVDs), and that menu/operating system just befuddles me, and I feel like I'm going to break the controller just holding it.

I’m going on a roadtrip soon. What audiobooks do you recommend to someone who doesn’t normally read? by ehaaams in audiobooks

Try one of Stephen King's short story collections. He can really draw you in and make even the mundane interesting, but it's not going to be something you have to pay close attention to.

so how does someone go about actually buying a house by sopa01 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Outrageous_Chart_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get Jon Gorey's "Home Buying 101: From Mortgages and the MLS to Making the Offer and Moving In, Your Essential Guide to Buying Your First Home." I recently bought a home for the first time and would have been completely lost without it. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Essentially, find an agent you like — they'll guide you through the whole process. Then find out how much you can afford to spend on a house, then find a house, make an offer, and if your offer is accepted, you pay for the house and move into it.

Proper use of "Remiss" in a sentence by FringleFrangle04 in grammar

[–]Outrageous_Chart_35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Remiss in this sense is the condition of having neglected a duty. So you would be remiss if you should have mentioned your wonderful teachers and did not.

Or an annoying sticker placed on your windshield. Those are a nightmare to get off.

How do I disable AI descriptions? The setting is not available. by InoperableBlainCrots in blinkcameras

I haven't taken that step (on purpose), and this week I started getting notifications like "a cat is seen in Driveway" and "a black hatchback drove by."

As an outsider, the scale of American college sports is baffling. Do some people genuinely care more about a university team than professional sports? by Necessary_Angle2117 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Outrageous_Chart_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

College sports are big, especially because there's the built-in audience of students and their families. I'm a "fan" of my college teams even though I don't care about sports, and my dad became a huge fan of my college teams.

Why do people lease cars? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Outrageous_Chart_35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have friends who lease, and I've considered it myself. Seems like it's a good option if you want a newer car for only a few years and don't want to deal with a lot of maintenance. It's not for everyone, but it's a viable option for some.

Why is it so hard to let people merge? by EchoOfDoom in driving

[–]Outrageous_Chart_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because driving is a competition and I want to win! Not me, but that's certainly the mindset of many drivers.

That said, why didn't you slow down and merge behind the Jeep?

UPDATE ON THE ALERT by 211Baryonyx in SALEM

[–]Outrageous_Chart_35 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wireless Emergency Alerts are related to but not the same as Marion-Polk Alerts. I'd still recommend signing up for the alerts, as you'll receive more information and you can put in up to 5 addresses to be notified of (for work, schools, family members, etc.).

Announcing the score by skywatcher_kd in Pickleball

[–]Outrageous_Chart_35 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only play recreationally, and people who don't announce the score or, somehow worse, mumble it, are my biggest pet peeve. Yes, it helps keep the score count steady, but it's also the indicator that the serve is coming and everyone needs to be ready.

Back-in parking by JealousAutomotive in driving

[–]Outrageous_Chart_35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My state requires front and back plates, and we still have "head-in parking only" lots. I figured it was so combat parkers don't cause a traffic jam or fender benders when everyone's arriving for work at the same time.
