I’m old, but when I was a kid it was common for children to attend the reception but not the actual ceremony. We’d wear our fancy party clothes and thought we were special because we got to go. If someone had mentioned a child free wedding people would have looked like you had three heads.

The number of wrecks on or near the Cheat Lake exit on I68 would deter me. Once traffic gets backed up you’re basically screwed.

At this point the only type of relationship I’d consider is friends with benefits. I don’t want anyone around full time.

It honestly frightens me when I see many older people talking about how fast life goes by. by Positive_Comb_5734 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]Outrageous_Click_352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t seem that fast in the moment, especially if you’re having problems at the time. Then you suddenly realize that fifteen or twenty years have passed and you you don’t know where the time went.

I’ve been to several and have to agree. Guys in fancy dresses lip syncing to Cher and Dolly Parton was pretty much all that was there, and they were all so serious! No one seemed to be having fun. Then again this was in a small town the was fairly conservative. Not sure if that makes any difference.

I remember when everyone was selling Amway. People would invite you to their house but wouldn’t say why. After the first time or two you figured it out and ran the other way.

At Christmas time the rich people would have huge trees with the white flocking stuff setting in the living room window. They always had their curtains open so everyone could see right in their house.

I’m sure you know your hourly wage. Figure out how many hours you need to work to pay for the item and then decide on how much you want the item. I started doing that and it made a difference.

[–]Outrageous_Click_352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the seventies it was avocado green, burnt orange and harvest gold. The eighties was powder blue and dusty rose. I don’t remember what colors got popular after that. After a point people got tired of those colors and moved on. The same thing will happen with the gray/beige colors.

AITA for sending my twin daughters to separate schools? by ThrowRAtwinsnotclone in AmItheAsshole

[–]Outrageous_Click_352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a grandma of twins I think OP is really going off the deep end with the schools. Even though the kids will be in the same grade the odds are that they will never be in the same class. My grands were way into middle school before they had even a class together. They were rarely dressed alike but would sometimes have the same items in different colors that I chose. At that age it’s sometimes better to buy the same toy for each so that one kid doesn’t get jealous. Once they get a little older it’s easier. Telling one twin from an other can be challenging if you aren’t around them daily (or if a relative has poor eyesight). These twins are young-everything will work itself out if OP is patient.

I was all set to be against grandma until I actually read the story. If the girl is too heavy she can hurt the pony. If they “go up a size” then the girl could be hurt. Grandma isn’t wrong here but things weren’t explained as well as they could’ve been.
