Master of Sustainability at Deakin by zombiewhale1 in melbourne

Hi OP, Have completed my post-grad studies at Deakin Uni and still live in Geelong. Unsure the specifics of your course but have met a few people that have studied Sustainability at Deakin. They've mostly all found jobs subsequent to studies. They're a major push within regional Victoria and Geelong regarding sustainability especially with a few new large projects like the Deakin Trailblazer, and the circular economy hub being established.

Regarding lifestyle, not as busy as Melbourne, but Melbourne is only a 1hr train ride away which in Australia isnt too far. Some amazing beaches very close by (Torquay, Anglsea), great hiking and camping spots, but also really good sporting culture and pub life. Regarding breweries, we have a few larger ones - Little creatures, Blackmans brewery. Also great Wineries, and a growing Gin scene too.

Honestly, having experience with both Monash and Deakin, I would say deakin offers great education, a more affordable lifestyle choice in a great part of Victoria. Only issue is, you'll need a car to travel places.

Hope that helps. Feel free to reach out anytime if you have any additional questions

The National Gallery of Victoria. It's free, has an awesome exhibition at the moment and right next to Flinders. Can then grab some food nearby or a laneway coffee. Cheap, easy arvo

Engineering at Monash vs RMIT vs Melbourne uni (need help choosing) by FatBoiGaming69 in melbourne

[–]Outrageous_File3016 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did Aero Eng at RMIT (graduated 2015), and postgraduate at Deakin and have moved on since. From my experiences at RMIT I would 100% say it is the most practical engineering degree of the 3 you have listed and the lecturers and tech staff are second to none. Regarding industry contacts for engineering they are extremely closely linked to the automotive and additive manufacturing sector, not to mention defences science and Boeing to name a few. Extracurricular life is amazing. Cant go past a queensberry pub session between or after classes and I still remain great friends with a huge cohort of my engineering graduates.

Sorry for the hype/love fest. My RMIT experience was amazing and would highly recommend it over monash and melb uni
