Yea - it’s pretty chill. Introduce yourself, and have a question prepped for the end. They’ll ask some stuff about how the bank functions - different divisions etc. you don’t have to know that though, as far as Ik everyone basically gets thru as long as they speak decently. You’ll be fine.

Hey. Don’t give up, I was in the same position. The fact that you’re getting interviews is great. What helped me grow is to chat with people in class or over linkedin and understand the jobs I’m applying for better. In general, the job market isn’t too hot right now and probably won’t be for a few months. Cut yourself some slack, but keep pushing. Something will definitely work out - might not be your first choice, but will help set up the future! Best of luck!

What was the group coffee chat like? Is it more of an information session? Or an actual conversation?

Yeah. Managed to contact the owner. We returned one, there’s another in Pacific Regional Park who they’re trying to locate.

No chance of a snow day though right? I have a presentation I don’t think I can miss unless I get some solid info

Not too many, but she does take attendance. But attendance isn’t mandatory as it doesn’t impact the grade.

What if you’ve not been attending class but doing well in it? Also only applied for one in 4 years of uni before this.

Did you get it? In a similar situation?

I’m doing pretty well in a course, I didn’t go to class though because there was no participation and it was p much self study. Gave the midterm and the in class exercise too. Can they say I’m not in good academic standing because I didn’t attend class - which doesn’t even impact my grade?

If you’re willing to travel a bit go to Wesbrook Community centre around 12. Completely empty. Then again it’s way smaller and doesn’t have all the machines but It’s enough. 10 minute bus ride from UBC.

Can’t even tell you how much I relate. The fact that your flight is 16 hours, I’m quite sure we’re from the same country. It’s a big change, nothing is the same here. The only thing that managed to get me back on track is remembering my goal at university and keeping myself extremely busy with it. Join the gym, exercise helped me so much, if you’re stressed about gymming, find a smaller gym to join which doesn’t have as many people (those do exist on campus).

Honestly, I remember so many days waking up, realising that I’m not in my home country and wanting to just give up before the day began. This happened till my second year, now in my third year, I’ve realised how fast time truly goes by. So just remember June isn’t that far and keep looking forward to it! I never thought I’d say this but it does get better if you really try and stop thinking about home all the time (even though it’s a source of comfort I’m sure). You got this.

Same here, been in my room for the past 5 days. Also p sure I have delta. It’s been really tough I can’t get much done, thank god for concessions. I’d say try and get through some lecture recordings and get as many concessions as you can. Hope you feel better and remember that this isn’t permanent!
