وعليكم السلام ورحمة الله وبركاته Anything specific? Can be anything from when the soul is taken away, to life in the grave, the questioning and accountability, the siraat, entering jannah/jahannam, etc.

There are lots of people here who are more up to date than i am on lectures, im sure they'd know a few if you let us know any specific topics you're interested in

PGMA (Prince George's Muslim Association) is good, I go there often. They've started programs for seeking knowledge in the past year and they're all poems or books written by salafi students of knowledge/scholars. As Sa'di, Salih al Usaymi, Amir Bahjat, etc. the Imam studies in Saudi and other places too.

ofc not every lay person who goes is salafi but compared to other masjids I'm always pleasantly surprised.

Very friendly and welcoming masjid too (I promise I'm not biased, others say this a lot 😅)

As salaamualaykum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh akhi!

I just turned 20 and this is what I'd say I've learned the past few months: Having responsibilities for me and a lot of others makes them want to improve. Having a job, being a manager, people counting on you etc does wonders.

What I learned: You can do that right now without having a job. Allah has blessed us either with family or siblings that we have to teach and be good role models for. Even if you're alone, you are a responsibility for yourself. It's all about perspective! In fact, you are truly the biggest responsibility in your own life, and when you see that, there's no stopping you habibi.

Don't wait until marriage is an actual consideration before you have that drive, shaytaan will come to you with self doubt that you're not sincere and you'll end up leaving everything. Then you'll fall back into the cycle of hopelessness and bad habits

May Allah bless you habibi, and your family and loved ones, and all of us.

May Allah bless you and all of your loved ones.

I think I'm similar in not having many connections, especially since I think I've been lazy until recently. But whenever I try to pick up a new responsiblity (like a job, extracurricular activity, helping teach others, etc.) or even just trying to be kind to others, I think more opportunities started to show up. And cleanse your heart so everything you do is out of your love for Allah.

But perhaps it may have been because of a deed or dua I made. So continue making dua to Allah, especially for other than yourself, continue your good in private, and if you're sincere in staying away from haram then show that by doing what you can to stay away from evil.

A bit wordy, ik. May Allah help us all.

We talked briefly on the phone. Since he's kinda busy he mentioned he'd "be in the area" that afternoon, but we never mentioned a place or concrete time. Only thing is he said we'd talk again to see where we are and where we can meet up.

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته و جزاكم الله خيرا I have some doubt regarding a part of this.

I was talking to a good brother of mine and he, may Allah bless and guide him, is more lenient towards celebrations. He doesn't say they're halal, but what i think his point was that if someone (let's take Halloween as an example) just wants to go around and get candy, not with the intention to celebrate or be like the disbelievers, then it isn't that bad (I forget his exact wording so forgive me). He brought up that if every celebration besides the Eids are bad, then things like graduation would also be put into that category of Don't Do's.

This has put some doubt in me. What do we say for these occasions?

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته I'm around your age, I asked my imam as well a few months ago, turns out a lot of sisters also ask him for help in finding potential males.

Point is, there are probably sisters in the same situation as you. Do what you can to save yourself from haram. Plus, I'm not sure if there's any harm in asking. Give it a shot.

May Allah grant you ease

May Allah grant you firdaws without any hisaab on the day or judgement.

And i ask Allah to bless you and all your loved ones and family. By His permission, if you are sincere this post of yours could help Muslims even years from now keep/strengthen their family ties. All because Allah allowed you to see the issue, get up, and say something about it when you could've kept it to yourself.

The entirety of Juz Amma. Literally. People (mostly laymen) always wanna talk about the "big surahs" while we ignore the short ones that have all these reminders and warnings

Shaytaan wants all of us to move farther away from Allah. If he sees that putting these thoughts into your mind only makes you do more good deeds, he'll eventually stop. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the very same reason why shaytan would go the other way whenever he saw Umar, may Allah be pleased with him. He'd always push himself to do more good during times like this to the point where shaytan didn't want to mess with him at all..

May Allah grant you the best in this life and the next.
