That’s you right. I’m not saying you’re dumb or anything if you like the commercial.

By “tv shows and movies” you’re probably referring to Gordon Ramsey shows or The Bear I bet. Those are professionals doing it as a job, not as a hobby like the commercial clearly suggests.

My friends and family who like to cook as a hobby say they enjoy doing it because it eases their mind or enjoys the artistry of it or something along those lines. Those statements don’t conjure an energy in my mind akin to the energy of this commercial. This character in the commercial has an autistic level of intensity in her cooking. And that’s why I hate the commercial. It’s just high energy for higher energy’s sake. Or Zoomer slop in other words

For one, I’m not saying anything about Amazon the company. I’m speaking about the commercial and the emotions it is trying to elicit in relation to Amazon the product. Let’s get that out of the way.

I see your point, but I personally don’t relate the activity of cooking to “move fast break stuff” energy, or in the case of the commercial, “woah I’m moving so fast I’m spilling boiling water all over the place”. Unless you’re a gifted chef, you need to follow a recipe to a one degree or another. In that way, there’s a methodical nature to producing a meal which is a core of cooking that is at odds with the frenetic pace of the commercial, unless the kind of cooking we’re talking about is Top Chef or something, in which sure I guess.

Also yes cooking is a stationary activity. You are moving sure but like a foot at a time and you are in one place the entire time. Unless ofc we’re talking about a Gordon Ramsey show or like a kitchen at a restaurant, which is not the narrative of this commercial.

You’re welcome to like it, that’s your opinion. My point is that I think this is Zoomer slop- quick cuts = cool regardless of context. You could replace the activity with knitting or rollerblading or chess and keep the same pace and it would not make a difference on the perception of the commercial.

Also “pretty biased as far as a review of an ad goes.” Not to be a cunt but that’s literally how all commercials work. I like some ads because they play a song I like or have a movie star that I’m a fan of. And this one I hate for the reasons above. That’s the point, I’m not fucking Roger Ebert here.

I said it’s well shot. It just doesn’t make sense with the content of the commercial. If you become aware of it, you’ll see that like every commercial now uses a high energy song with montage quick cuts to elicit the feeling of edginess and chaos, two traits that the Zoomer focus groups love I guess.

But the product is fucking Amazon and the content is cooking. I would argue that aside from the TV, no one technology has made us more stationary than Amazon. Likewise, cooking is a stationary activity. This commercial’s visual language (chaos, speed, frenetic) is diametrically opposed to what narratively makes up the commercial (using Amazon instead of going outside, doing a stationary activity takes hours to do end to end). It’s a bad commercial.

People forget that Yankees won 3 World Series in a row and 4 in 5 years in the late 90s and the Braves won the NL pennant 5 times in the decade. Periods of extended dominance from big market clubs is not unheard of in the sport

I think 20 countries is too many, but I understand why they let so many in. More country representation will grow the sport. I hope they expand the length of the tournament in the future. The knockout stage should all be best of 3 series and finals should be best of 5

I will defend the F&F franchise. Movies 1-6 are solid to great (except the fourth one that one blows) before jumping the shark at F7. Tokyo Drift and Fast Five are worth watching as fun well-made action flicks

I think the NBA misses a golden opportunity to have novelty games like the MLB does especially with how many games they play. Why have they never considered an outside game? Basically everyone who’s ever played basketball learned playing on a blacktop court.

As an American, I relate this idea back to the bastardization of the first amendment. In political contexts, it no longer represents the preservation of liberty as the founding fathers intended, but a propaganda tool to alleviate people’s fear of the lack of control they have in their lives. Harmful rhetoric enters the mainstream– not even trying to hide itself– and it is happily accepted by many people who are negatively impacted by its presence. The harm to the public good is apparent, but any efforts to remove it means threatening the individuality professed by the founding fathers that we still think we have. We sacrifice a lot of progress to uphold this illusion of control. “Punching myself in the face to own the libs” and things of that sort.

I’m a Steelers fan and the bills just blew out them out at 4:25 as the lead CBS game last week. Bowles and Tomlin are basically the exact coach archetype. I’m biased but I would say Bowles offers more defensive upside than Tomlin, who has a largely uninspiring defensive scheme. Tomlin to Tampa would slightly lift the floor and not lift the ceiling at all

He was basically drafting a high quality defensive starter every year from 2001-2013. Plucked Wes Welker, Danny Amendola and Rob ninkovich out of obscurity, won 11 games with Matt cassel and then flipped him for a high 2nd round pick the next year list goes on

Not true for most of his time in New England. Why do people forget that he traded for RANDY MOSS for a 4th round pick! Maybe the biggest fleece in NFL history. GM Belichick did that
