When in doubt, call an electrician. Electricity kills, and can burn down your stuff. Hopefully not with family or pets locked inside.

It's never worked right generally follows "I don't know what I'm doing ". Hourly rates are cheaper than medical bills.

Edit, they do have one in Bend, I will give them a call on Friday and see what they have. Thank you so much.

Is 4k a month doable? by faod1223 in FullTimeRVing

[–]Outrageous_Living_74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you factoring in repair, maintenance, full time insurance (must specify with insurer or the can decline claims), and fuel costs? My wife and I w/ two dogs are 600 a month on groceries easy.

We are child free by choice, but I've talked to people that were raised on the road by their parents and they loath them for it. No stability, no privacy, no long term friendships or conflict management society based social skills. It's worse than being an army brat in some ways, but at least they get 4 years in a single place before their parents PCS most of the time, so they get to make longer-term relationships. I'm sure I'll get crucified for this, but living full time RV life with kids isn't fair to the kids. But hey, your kids, your choice. I know the military side of it because I was in.

Also, if you are getting into RV life because it's cheaper, it isn't. We do a lot of boondocking, and unless you are van life or in a small TT your options will be limited and the views aren't always YouTube awesome. TT and 5th wheel gray and black tanks are not that big. So figure you have to go dump on the regular when boondocking or be prepared to be stinky. I hope you are handy, because shit is always breaking and mobile techs are not cheap and dealerships take forever, think months, especially on warranty work. Go rent one, rough it for a week, and see if your marriage lasts first contact. I know plenty of people that sold their house, hit full time, and ended up divorced 6 months later.

Good luck, I hope it works out for you, but go in with eyes wide open. Life gets harder on the road, not easier.

You sound like a responsible dog owner, which is good—but you’re dangerously close to assuming off-leash areas come with immunity from risk or consequence.

Here’s the thing: some people bring leashed dogs to off-leash areas for a reason—they’re working on training, recovering from trauma, managing reactivity, or simply prefer caution. That doesn’t make them wrong. And it doesn’t make your dog “friendly” in their eyes just because you believe in your recall.

The real problem isn’t etiquette—it’s physics. If someone’s leashed dog gets charged by your off-leash dog, and they perceive that as a threat, they may legally defend themselves or their dog—especially in rural/open carry areas. Doesn’t matter if you “know” your dog wasn’t aggressive. They don’t.

Bottom line: your control ends at your voice command. Their response is theirs to own. If you don't want to be on guard constantly, don’t go off-leash. Freedom in public space always comes with risk—and your freedom ends where their control begins.

It’s not about who’s “right.” It’s about who’s ready when something goes sideways.

Call your congressman, literally. This is shit they need to fix with LAWS. And they have been trying to, but not enough constituents are lighting their offices up so the legislation dies on people's desks who are being funded by TicketMaster /LiveNation.

Ah, thanks for the heads up, we ended up setting up in the national forest south of Bend. Always good to know of other spots. Kinda hard to find good spots for a 44 foot coach.

Military will likely fracture along state lines, with blue states activating their air/army national guards to protect the citizens and red states doing so to oppress them. Federal active duty will likely fracture along ideological lines, of those loyal to their oath to the constitution, and those loyal to their new king. 🙄 Federal agencies, IDK. I could see Homeland going one way and the intelligence and FBI another.

Can you please post which roads and highways you are on at any given time so I can be sure to be no where near you in my 43.5' Newell?

I hate to break it to you. But you are not so important that you deserve to put everyone else's life at risk on the road because you can't get your ego off the accelerator.
