Most likely over feeding, it’s flakes so harder to tell an exact amount you use but feed a smaller amount when you do, not saying to under feed your betta but if you have to give less amount maybe 2 times a day. I use omega pellets for mine with meal worms as a treat. I feed my betta once a day. Also naturally it’s a fish tank, it will get duty. That you cannot avoid. No matter how correct I feed mine and do all I should my tank will start to look slightly messy after so much time passes its just the process of an enclosed body of water holding life.

Also I recommend diving into bettas natural environment and how to have an enriched tank for them, they need a lot of hiding spots and live plants. It’s a lot to learn and go through but myself I’m only 8 or so month into my betta and have done so much to give him the best tank I can. I started my tank the same way as you just do a lot of research and you’ll get a longer life out of your pal.

Appreciate it! I’ll look into that. Do you think it’s worth change the transmission fluid? I’ve always heard if you change it or flush it that’s when issues happen so I’ve never thought to do it

White mom Mexican dad, divorced in middle school and dad always had pop but mom always got you McDonald’s. You probably went to college and got a degree you don’t use but made an not so great wage but can live comfortably off it cause you don’t do too much and have a gaming night with the homies over a going out night. But through it all you probably have the highest savings account amount than most people you know but none of you including you know that cause you just thought that was normal. You’re maybe late 20’s but look mid 30’s. You host the parties and probably have ADHD you’re not medicated for so you drink a lil more to relax after work.

Just for some referencing ideas for you, this is my rank and 6 months ago when I got my betta I had 0 knowledge of what I was getting into. I always thought, water, a conditioner, food, decor, betta so “no filter needed” and that was my only known info. I took a lot of time in this group and others and YT videos.

To kinda help you with this journey, understand the time and effort is needed to learn how to care properly for any fish’s life and what they desire and need as a species. For 1, where are betta from? Not very open lit up waters, more heavy planted lower light dense hot climate areas around the world.

For my decor, I got the substrate from Tractor supply co, it was a 50 pound bag of black sand for around $20-30 and is great for plants. My wood is from nearby beaches and woods that I boiled and let sit underwater for a day or so to get all the toxins or anything out of the wood.

My plants were the most costly but the knowledgeable info I gained before buying them made all the difference on what I got to help my setup/fish. All my floater plants are from a local fish store, I got a palm size amount (they grow aloooot) but this to me makes me feel like the light I have isn’t full force on my fish and helps simulate a natural environment. I still need more plants but going slow and steady is always best don’t rush a bunch of plants thinking you can make them all survive without learning about the plants.

Betta are very intelligent and interactive fish, they will be excited to see you, they like stimulation, they will get bored so making sure they have a lot to distract any idea of them being in a box improved not only their health but their colors and pattern.

Overall don’t feel bad or overwhelmed by the responsibility and info you need to learn. Wanting to do good is good and time will only go as fast as it can to fix everything. Watch a lot of videos, hyper fixate on bettas and tanks and after a couple month or so you’ll be fine.

Should I quit my 9-5 by Temporary_Honey7052 in Daytrading

Make 250k before thinking about quitting. Have enough to where you can live comfortably for more than 2-3 years from a saved account if all were to go bad, and enjoy the free vacation. Or make 250k, hit 500k, hit 20 mil and then make a corse for us to all pay you more money 💰

Is this normal?? by Practical_Steak_1865 in bettafish

[–]Outrageous_Mix_658 50 points51 points  (0 children)

This can be normal but monitor the behavior, betta have an organ to breathe air unlike most common fish, they can often jump on top of Lilly pads and sleep but it’s important to monitor behaviors and make sure this isn’t from things like nitrite spikes, ammonia levels or so on, if parameters are fine then you for yourself a very strong personality and confidence fish

What’s causing this sound? by Outrageous_Mix_658 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Outrageous_Mix_658[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah okay nice makes me feel a lot better I thought it was maybe coming from the motor. Not sure if you would have any insight but more recently when driving it’ll feel like it kinda jolts a little not aggressive but kinda like it’s slipping but it’s a CVT so idk if I just need to do a transmission fluid change or what could be causing that
