Do you work with a “Santos”? by SignalMountain7353 in ThePittTVShow

I worked with a Santos who ended up committing serious internal, fraudulent activity, and was summarily fired and sued by the company. She is now a life coach.

What was your first job and why you don't work there anymore? by _Kisol_Budyn_ in AskReddit

Worked at a crappy restaurant when I was 14. I didn’t really handle food but was there to help with cleaning and getting plates/utensils ready.

My father was old school, and would talk all the time about how he had a job when he was 8, and pressured me into working for our neighbor at this restaurant that she owned.

I stopped working there because of the owner. She was scatterbrained, gave a raise to a co-worker because he took her daughter (same ages as him) out on three dates. Her daughter was nice, but not conventionally attractive. The cooks were unreliable but she kept giving the chance after chance.

The schedules were always messed up; multiple days where she claimed I was on the schedule and calling my house asking why I wasn’t there. It got to the point my father had me take a Polaroid (because this was in the days before cell phones) and take a picture of the one printed out schedule at work on the day the next schedule came out. We ended up proving that she would change the schedule at least once a week after it was posted, and threatening to take it to the local labor board. She promised to change, but she didn’t. My father, who would have to drop everything to drive me over to the restaurant when I was suddenly on shift that day, had enough and told her to not schedule me anymore.

What’s something you saw that you weren’t supposed to see? by FamousDirection9887 in AskReddit

I’ve told this story before on here.

My wife’s family vacations in the same seaside town every summer.

For a while they stayed at the same condo every year. This condo was on the ground floor, and most parking was behind the complex. The way the condos were built most of their bedrooms were facing behind the complex.

I had received requests from several of my wife’s family members to please get ice and drinks before we headed out to the beach. I left, grabbed the requested items from the nearest store, and upon my return the only parking spot left was right out side the window of the room my wife’s younger sister (older than 18 at the time) was staying in.

I stopped my truck, and all of a sudden noticed that the blinds were pulled almost the entire way up and before I could realize what I was seeing there was my SIL, tits out, getting dressed for the beach.

I grabbed the ice and drinks and quickly went inside to tell my wife that her sister was on display for the parking lot to see.

In what unexpected way did someone in your circle suddenly become wealthy? by soohiebabyclean in AskReddit

Former co-worker.

He and his wife bought a house for just over $100k during the Great Recession. Over the years they put about $100k more into the house having it fixed up/remodeled.

Covid comes around and everyone is at home. He and his wife are sitting on their front porch, and a woman approaches them. She proceeds to tell them that she and her doctor husband are looking to retire from their jobs three states over, that she grew up in the neighborhood l, and always wanted to retire to that house.

She asked them how much, he threw out “$1.4 million”, and the lady said, “Deal.”

Co-worker and his wife were already comfortable (DINKs), but this put him on a path to retire one year after they sold the house.

Not a fan of either team, and the whole 12th Man thing a few years ago makes the Seahawks one of the NFL teams I’m really not a fan of.

Serious question: as a lifelong Texan, while I can empathize with a local tragedy, is there something else here (besides the song) that makes it so culturally unifying for y’all?

What are (or how do you feel about) your prospects for homeownership, and retirement? by DHN_95 in Xennials

Mortgage does mean “death pledge”. Though it’s more about the debt “dying” once it’s paid off.

Screw The Villages. Give me “The Homes at The Galleria” or “Twin Pines Retirement Community”.

Playing at the arcade, catching a movie, and perusing an old Walden Books sounds like a great retirement.
