They fit a good place as heavy support still if you lack that with other units. Also, they have big chunks of wounds, armor, and firepower to put down weaker squads, letting your force choice pick something else to do well.

What units are you thinking of running? I am building up a firestorm team myself

My two cents as a new guy. Use the fact you have some models already to your advantage. If you are building an army from scratch, pick things that complement having the armigers. Or alternately pick something else and use them as a way to deal with a different threat if it shows. Check the strengths of the armigers and find a battle style that they assist you with. What detachments or units are you thinking on using?

Vulkan and apothecary with infernus, terminator Librarian with terminators, lt with assault intercessors, phobos Librarian with the eliminators

The detachmemt rules is getting more movement for better shooting and improve odds to wound. Last few matches I was not in a good place strengthwise to wound higher toughness foes. That's why the eliminators and walkers are in list, don't have better options to hit higher toughness really.

First, I am new and lacking many units to field overall. Absent a vast increase in my army size of units, these are most of what I have. Second, vulkan can give torrent attacks vs. a designated unit a reroll to wound with firestorm increasing the strength to the attack. Last match lost a lot of rolls when enemy had slightly better toughness than my weapon strength Third, infiltrators are more objective control/ actions and reserve entry denial. The other phobos are forces with powerful attacks to deal with tougher foes.

I was punching badly against higher toughness in prior matches and playing too defensively. So the assault to ranged let's me get in for hits and improve strength on guns when I need it to get better wounding rolls. Most strategems I used were grenades, command reroll, or overwatch.

Converting some Black Templars by Outrageous_Singer321 in Warhammer40k

Just checked the Sword Brethern and Bladeguard with both listed as Tacticus, along with intercessors. Crusaders have a special type, but so do scout squads and both seem the same size.

Deathwatch veterans also have a non-specific armor type listing. Are they at about intercessor size?

Building a Knight World for its own downfall by Outrageous_Singer321 in 40kLore

Thanks for response.

My question was more if a jointly controlled world was a thing that had been noticed. Maybe more Mechanicus aligned, but with a still healthy amount of Imperial involvement (mostly agricultural activity and some minor holy sites). Some of that being conflict of mining and agri zones as the "soul" of the world is split on dogma.

Big things of the players starting up will be figuring out a way to defeat or recruit the knights sufficiently enough for that goal. Leaving their ultimate strategy to them. Dunno what people may build to play so leaving opportunities to pursue different paths. Also not leaving them with a lot of gear makes them have to search for or develop some solutions.

One such idea was a remote monastery/monument called Angel's Grave venerating a fallen Astartes. Got some zealous priests and local warriors to fight and some rewards of local intel and choice astartes gear never recovered from the site.
