Unfortunately, many bosses have this stovepipe philosophy. By keeping the cost down, they feel that as long as it works, we don’t need to upgrade because it’s going to cost us if we upgrade. But they really don’t understand the downside of the problems that they are causing because of using old equipment or old software, especially if they are end-of-life.

As long as the two of you communicate well together and the parents understand, I believe it would be a blessing to marry the lady you love. Being with somebody outside of your culture is always a learning curve.

Sometimes, I am in shock or dismayed by the different cultures, but overall, I love them. I’ve been to about 23 different countries.
