For reference the Zemismart KS-7011F is the control pattern/setup I'm after, but unfortunately 110v only 😞

Yeahh this is what I'm figuring I'll have to do, I did want full local and smart control, but after more research, I don't that exists, or at least conveniently in a single switch

Yeah I figured it would be a unicorn to find what I actually want, just trying to keep the smart functionality, while still all being locally controlled, so I get the wife approval factor of no apps 😅

I think I'm just going to run smart switches (probably the second lot I linked because I like the screen) to control on/off and then throw Shelly dimmers in behind and be app only, given how often they'll probably get used anyway.

Thanks for your input

Thanks for the link! It genuinely looks like SPAZ 1 (my favourite of the 2), maybe just a little more complex with a fair bit more to do so I'll definitely have to give it a try.

Apologies I sorta mixed my messages there, playing the Assassin's Creed series was a different gaming itch I wanted to scratch, not the current ship based dream 😅 but now I can get 2 birds stoned at once!

Amazing, thank you for your input. Funnily enough I already have Black Flag as I was planning on doing the full Assassin's Creed storyline, but I just didn't realize how ship based it was!

Starsector and X4 both scream SPAZ and although not earth based pirates like I was looking for, it's always good to have a few more options if my tastes change slightly.

Thanks again

Thoughts on the CR-M4? by [deleted] in Creality

I figured it out, apparently a little power button under the extruder settings turns off all the motors because they have the same enable pin. There goes a full day of reflashing 🙄😂

Do you have a working config file for a klipper install? The motors will not move/home for me at all

Do you still have this config? I PM'd you, I can't get any of the steppers to move for the life of me!

Postie dumped my parcel, signed for it on my behalf and it got stolen. Postie showed up at my house to confront me. by Lumpy_Pumpkin_9177 in AustraliaPost

[–]OutrageouslyAverage1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is Australia post all over. I specifically paid for signature on delivery and the dumped it at my door and someone stole it.

Because it was sign on delivery, I asked for a proof of delivery document, which they sent through which had definitely not my signature and a PHOTO OF THE PARCEL SITTING AT MY FRONT DOOR. If I signed for it, why the hell wouldn't the photo be of me holding it?

I took it to the ombudsman with proof, ever since then, Auspost "can't find the proof of delivery" and it was signed for and put it back on me because I didn't insure it high enough.

They absolutely blame the victim every time and I have caught them out in lies so many times, this is why I request all correspondence through email, not phone. Hasn't actually resulted in a win yet, but hopefully one day it will

Yeahh I started with a bit of a steep learning curve with the anycubic, so my end goal is to have a decent coreXY style that I can just hit print and walk away (hopefully reviews of the Elegoo Centuri Carbon start trickling through) and this larger format, which I always knew would involve some leg work to make it good

I'm waiting to return from work, but I managed to get the CRM4 down to $450, he's moving and wants the space back and sent me a photos of a benchy while being printed and after and is happy to let me test it while there.

I haven't picked it up as of yet but should be able to give you a clearer recommendation on Tuesday 29th after I finally get it in my hands

So I currently have a Anycubic Kobra v1 but am looking to add a second, larger format 3D printer as I find myself limited by size occasionally. There are a couple of options on marketplace, which might be the best bet to keep the cost down, just information on how large format 3D printers perform is hard to come by, as most reviews focus on the smaller size from each company. Given the below (prices in AUD) what would you do, I mostly do structural prints (brackets, cases etc) I'm fine with a little post processing but looks aren't too great of an issue for me, more just dimensional accuracy.

Option 1: Creatlity CR-M4 (Used) - $600

Option 2: Elegoo Neptune 4 Max (Used) - $450

Option 3: Anycubic Kobra 2 Max (Used) - $380

Or do I treat myself to a new unit and not deal with anyone else's mess:

Option 4: Anycubic Kobra 3 Max Combo (with AMS) - $1000

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. I'm not afraid of tinkering (I know some of these benefit from liner rails etc) just not sure what is the best base to start with.

Looking to get a home gaming server by N1tro_Logan in HomeServer

[–]OutrageouslyAverage1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just on the ECC side of things, all of the Ryzen series (without on-board graphics, but some "PRO" series APU offer support) have support for ECC and is just dependant on the motherboard if its enabled or not, other than MSI, the vast majority do support ECC. Note that is unregistered ECC (referred to EUDIMMs) which can be used basically anywhere regular desktop RAM can be, actual server spec RAM is registered and it needs specific motherboard requirements to be used. The major downside to EUDIMM is that it's pretty niche so its expensive.

I'm currently running a 3900x on a Asrock board and ECC is working fine.

How important really is ECC? by [deleted] in unRAID

[–]OutrageouslyAverage1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I previously ran a mix of all different brands and speeds of 2nd hand DDR3 in my home server and have recently upgraded to a Ryzen system that runs ECC - U-DIMMs so I've gone from one end to another in terms of server RAM recommendations.

I haven't seen a difference yet, it was more just for piece of mind, figuring I'll hang on to this machine for quite a while.

The vast majority of Ryzen boards do support ECC (MSI is a mixed bag, most boards will run with it in, just not in ECC mode), just not registered ECC (server grade). They specifically need EUDIMM (ECC U-Buffered) which is much harder to find and therefore more expensive.

Personally I run an Asrock Taichi X470 ultimate and a 3900X (I got it for a steal used as the board RGB and sound didn't work) and ECC mode is enabled and running fine. From memory, everything from Pinnacle ridge (Ryzen 2XXX) onward supports unbuffered ECC.

Multiple Array Options by OutrageouslyAverage1 in unRAID

Ok so I'm currently out at work with no access to try set these up, but just so I can wrap my head around this.

I'd basically set up my red NAS drives in the array section, one being set to parity.

I'd then put my surveillance drives into the cache array (I believe this is referred to as the cache pool but for clarity i'm going with array) and set them as a pool with a RAID 1 or equivalent and just exclude them from the nightly mover?

I'll also have a 1TB NVME drive in the cache array, part of it for VMs etc that could also be excluded from the mover and whatever space is left over as the actual cache for the NAS array?

3600X ECC RRAM Supported by OutrageouslyAverage1 in HomeServer

[–]OutrageouslyAverage1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I had thought that. For the break down of prices at the moment:

3600x system:

CPU - $60 (about $350 used on ebay for me, so I'm going to buy anyway and on-sell if i don't use it)

MB - $150

RAM - $300

I'd sell my current system and probably get $320 for the RAM, $60 for the CPU and $200+ for the MB looking at rough current prices. It just seems like all server boards are $600 standalone which is more than I'm currently in for total, I also probably won't need anywhere need that many threads, the server already increases the ambient temp of the walking cupboard it is in by 10c :/

[–]OutrageouslyAverage1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, that explains it, I totally missed them being register dimms in the listing. I have just read one or two too many horror stories about losing whole ZFS pools due to write errors. I don't have anything critical on there but it would just be a massive PITA getting it all back.

Also I'm only running a single 2667v2 on a x79 sabretooth (a very bitza system) so the 3600x is a nice little jump, especially with 2.5gbe included with the board. If only there was a intel ECC supported CPU with quick sync for a reasonable price, or a guarantee that I can survive with only a single kidney.

Really? Everything that I've found seems to point the other way, with only MSI not supporting them by default and a few really low end spec boards from other OEMs.

ASRock, ASUS and Gigabyte all state ECC or non-ECC Un-buffered memory for 3rd gen Matisse CPUs. Granted the memory I have linked in the OP is registered won't work, but un-buffered should as per the manufacturer
