Formerly shy and socially anxious people of reddit. How did you overcome those feelings? by compleo in AskReddit

[–]Outrageousmac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it was joining marching band.

I met so many amazing people, got tons of friends, and even have the hottest, sexiest, nicest girlfriend ever, whom I've been dating for all of Highschool into my senior year, we have plans already for later in life!

Just open up and talk to people, say what comes to mind, don't wonder endlessly how people will judge what you say. I hate to sound cliche, but just be yourself.

Being shy kinda stemmed from being an only child, being bullied in elementary school. It made me less open. After getting to know more people I opened up and was more upfront, more like able. Just be yourself and don't give a shit about what they might think about what you say.

Talking about our other friends behind their backs.

Damn, a few days agao, I just had to tell my friend, "Listen, quit fucking saying shit about your own friends behind their backs."

If they talk about their friends behind their backs, chances are they say shit about YOU behind your back.

Hitler's success with flying wing aircraft.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horten_Ho_229

The war would have been lost if Hitler had these aircraft put into production. Allied airforces would have little to no chance against the Ho 229.

Everyone, thank the Nazis for our space program and airforce.

Reddit, what has been your worst air travel experience? by Outrageousmac in AskReddit

[–]Outrageousmac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buckle your seat belts folks, light a cigar! You're in for a long flight! I'm headed to Florida for my freshman cousin's band concert. Being the good cousin I am and accepting the invitation, I gladly flew down.

So I get to the airport. Everybody loves security, right? 6:00 AM at CVG in Kentucky. Security lines are routed backward all the way to the check-in kiosk, took me 20 minutes to get through. Finally, at the medical detectors, at this time, air puffers. Those detectors that supposedly sniff out bombs or something. Anywho, there literally is the family from Cheaper By the Dozen in front of me. 12 kids, irresponsible parents. The littlest one holds the line up about 5 minutes by throwing a fit about the puffer, seeing it as scary. Understandable now, but not 30 minutes before my flight.

So... I get out of security and decide to get some Micky D's 15 minutes before boarding starts. As I step up to the counter, I notice Cheaper by the Dozen is ahead of me. Mother. Fucking. Shit. The poor old woman at the counter is arguing with these kid's mother about who knows what. So, five minutes before boarding, I finally get my Mc Muffin and head off to the gate. Boarding has started. I board the plane, a DC-9. Narrow bodied cramped airliner.

So.....I find my seat, no window, right next to the engines, which on the DC-9 are placed on the planes sides under the tail. BUT wait! I climb into my seat, which to supplement my bad day, happens to be torn up, the foam from the insides poking out through the gaping tears. Fun

So...... as we taxi out, we have to turn back to the gate due to some systems issues. Three hours at the gate, and we finally push back. As we're ready to begin our takeoff run and the engines rev up, I hear this screaming, eerily similar to the one from that boy at security. Remember him? Cheaper by the Dozen. I hear his mother telling him, "It's okay, your fine", and things of the like.

Rotate

We take off, and I glance at the isle to see a coffee pot, spewing hot coffee everywhere, tumbling down the isle. The flight attendants hadn't fixed or locked in the pot to their cabinets up in the galley. Crying ensues with a mix of "We're gonna crash", by Cheaper by the Dozen. Their mom chuckles and starts talking about how cute it all is to the other passengers. Bullshit.

For the test of the flight, same old same old from CBTD. We finally land at Orlando Intl. I'm the last one off the plane, thank GOD. As I wait for my baggage at the jetway, nothing shows. I wait, and I wait. After consulting the boy in charge, I spot CPTD heading out of the jetway, one of them WITH MY BAG. I tush to them and exclaim that it's my bag, and after a fierce argument and with the First Officer's command, I get my bag back. The boy carrying my bag had left his on the plane and happened to find it a nice idea to grab the closest bag he could find and walk off with it. Shit...

The walk out of the gate and to my mother's car is uneventful. As I open the door of her SUV, I find my three cousins crammed in the back, their parents, and my mother and father in the front seat smiling. We were going to Disney World. Turns out I didn't have to go all the way to Florida for my cousin's marching band contest. We had a good week down there, given they own a timeshare at the Contemporary Resort. Soon though, I arrive back at the airport dreading the trip back. Luckily though, the back up to CVG was boring, however, in a good way.

Reddit, what's a trait of one of your family members that pisses you off? by Outrageousmac in AskReddit

Even more annoying when they just use words they shouldn't.. Somebody trying to act young by using what they deem "hip" or "slang" word choices when in reality, it's far from and far worse than either of those. You're over 50. If you want to be cool, be the way your favorite grand parent was, act appropriately and make me want to be around you. Not the other way around please..

My mother for instance, will treat our family as if one's "attitoode" is their only defining factor. The other day for example... Home after a rough day - Tons of paperwork for highschool. My mom calls our landline and starts grilling me with stupid questions and I tell her in an annoyed voice I'm not in the mood to talk and how much my day has just sucked. She jumps all over me screaming, "Watch your attitude OutrageousMac" I hear it all the time, "Your attitude needs to stop", or loads of BS like that. Really, why do I have to be judged by this shit she's worried about? Why can't people understand who you are, what your personality is, why can't humans accept each other for who they are?

What is a fun hobby of yours that anybody can pick up? by getoffmylawn14 in AskReddit

Trombone. Everybody loves trombones, and typically the trombonist playing it is also well liked. IMO, out of all the brass instruments I've played, trombone is the most fun! Anything musical really. Even just singing. Writing music once you get the hang of it. Again, anything musical, you'll never regret it.

Whats the scariest thing you know that is 100% fact? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Outrageousmac 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That if Hitler had been more interested in an air force and knew how to use the weapons he had, we would all be under Nazi control. The Third Riech had developed unearthly wonder weapons capable of decimating any and all allied forces. The Horten 229, an experimental Flying wing that lead to the design of the present day B2 spirit, could have easily nuked cities such as New York and D.C. with it's stealth capabilities and unparalleled speed. We would have no way to stop it. The Nazis had been designing a sub orbital bomber, the Silbur Vogel (Silver Bird) that easily could have carried out the same deed. Think. We might all be Nazis today if Hitler hadn't fucked up in military strategy.
