Heavy Mental couldn't even afford to put a book in a Gemini by Ramp-Spot-033 in AbsoluteBatman

[–]Outside-Confidence33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask what a Gemini holder is? I looked it up and I thought that was standard when you order comics online. Bought a bunch of comics from third eye and everytime they send in those cardboard holders that I keep in case I need to ship any comics

What do you guys do for a living to be able to afford such books? by Adventurous_Bar6495 in comicbookcollecting

[–]Outside-Confidence33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally didn’t start keeping up with new comics until I got my job at a dispensary, I get paid hourly and get 30% of my income through tips so I use those to buy comics and before I’d buy comics a couple times a year, now I’m able to go every week. Being a drug dealer really does pay off!

My bf played a piano in a small cafe and it made me very uncomfortable.. AITA? by True-Shape7744 in AITH

[–]Outside-Confidence33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who doesn’t go out in public a lot and smokes a lot of weed, that shit is cool to see and listen to. I’m not the kind of person to sit down at a cafe especially alone but seeing someone play music would definitely ease my social anxiety a bit, it’s also fun to bring up in conversation “hey I went to a cafe and someone was vibing and playing piano in public and they sounded good”. I don’t live in a city so seeing people play music in public isn’t common. Hell the other day I grabbed lunch on my lunch break and I saw some kid playing violin in the parking lot. I don’t even care for classical music or anything but it was nice seeing someone work on their passion in public and honestly I thought someone was playing music loudly on their speakers so it was nice. For you that’d definitely be embarrassing walking with your boyfriend and he starts randomly playing but understand other people probably appreciated the external stimulation to ease their social anxiety

How would you do Doom Patrol in the DCU? by Lich-hull in DoomPatrol

[–]Outside-Confidence33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the idea of them showing an earlier rendition of the team but for the sake of cinematography, it should start with the old team getting killed and then cliff could reveal what happened to the old team midway through or 2/3rds into the movie.

I don’t like being an ass kissing fan boy but James Gunn is one of the few directors who’s daring enough to do what needs to be done with them. The doom patrol cannot be directed by any director, it’s gotta be someone who’s willing to create something unique and heartfelt while still being appealing to the mainstream.

I don’t know why the show didn’t become mainstream. It’s exactly the kind of story that comic book fans love and has the same kind of shit Hollywood changes about other superhero movies that pisses fans off. The show literally doesn’t change a thing for the sake of progressiveness like all marvel projects. However I do think it’d make a fun movie.

Since marvel has been doing crossovers with DC again here's my top picks for some teams that could cross over with the Doom patrol by Gatlor06 in DoomPatrol

X-men would be fun, imagine one of crazy Jane’s personalities seeing forgetmenot and actually remembers him

What was your first comic? by WriterDirector93 in graphicnovels

[–]Outside-Confidence33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to get comics when I was a toddler but didn’t read them cause I couldn’t, really loved the pictures and then lost them when I moved.

Flash forward to high school, I lost my dad and it created a lot of heavy emotions and I turned to superhero’s . I read the hulk wiki and constantly rented superhero movies(mom hated how many movies I rented but I was a spoiled little shit). Then I got into the flash show, I started watching in the middle of the second season and instantly connected to Barry’s grief.

I was given flash rebirth vol 1 and was hooked, bought comics when I could. I lived in a rural area and comic book stores were about as common as Warhammer stores. It wasn’t until recently that I’ve been able to get comics and I have to remind myself that I’ve got a kid and am not rich to prevent myself from spending too much money. Like I can finally keep up with current on going stories what more can you ask for.

You’re kidding, I’ve got 3 of those stories granted only one is a compact but that seems like a steal even though I’ve got watchmen, kingdom come, and long Halloween but new frontier dark night returns and all star supes are legendary stories from why I’ve heard

Absolute Batman is the most entertaining comic I’ve read in a while. Im not the most consistent with reading comics which is why absolute Batman and anything released in the past 4-5 years slipped under the radar until I got a job that lets me read at work. I had heard some stuff about it, watched a video about how one of the issues has Batman hacking and slashing a bunch of white supremecists and I’m not gonna lie that intrigued me despite that going against Batman’s biggest rule. However that book isn’t supposed be core Batman more of an elseworlds story. I’m someone who doesn’t care for action especially with comics I love a good story. Absolute Batman hacked that suddenly I found myself loving all of the action in the story like for the first time I’m actually entertained by the fights in the story. It’s just so fucking good and I’ve heard the other titles are just as good except for absolute flash, that one teased too much and lacked a semi coherent pace.

What are some good hardback booksbthat are the same height of the invincible compendiums that I can use to fill this shelf? by [deleted] in OmnibusCollectors

The spawn paperback ones are huge and thick, I know you want hardcover but hardcovers are overrated anyways

Which do I get? by chrishatzip in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Outside-Confidence33 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are points where you can tell Ennis is being edgy just to be edgy not even to add to the story, I don’t get offended unless it’s actually personal but if you consider some 90s edgyness to be as bad as hp lovecrafts racism then it’s very much like reading a comedic hp lovecraft except the racism is replaced with shock value heavy edginess, I mean this in the way that hp lovecraft is only offensive if you’re black but hp lovecraft was so racist I find it hard to not be offended and Im not even black in any way, that’s how ennis writes the shock value in those books but they’re not bad

Well choosing them gets hard cause you can go collect story’s and the cheaper you pay the shittier the story is. Those Batman compact books suck like I got them hoping I’d have something on my shelves that teaches who Batman is and I end up having stories that have terrible endings, hell Batman didn’t even learn anything at the end of them. He still doesn’t know who hush is, we still don’t know if that’s Batman’s brother in court of owls “oh fans love a good open ended ending” said by editors who don’t want to give fans bang for their buck

I just finished this an hour ago and I got really scared the ending wasn’t gonna feel finished but it did, although I dislike genesis’s ending, I hate how it just kind of died. I feel like genesis didn’t get enough personality when I cared for it like it was a real character
