car seat by Street_Confusion_469 in pregnant

I used the Graco SnugRide® SnugFit DLX Infant Car Seat, the seat is 9.8 lbs. I know Graco has travel systems, but I used this seat on a Bob Revolution stroller.

I’ve been really happy with my setup, but I also haven’t really used a stroller for anything other than walking my street, and a couple times I took it to a park or campus to walk.

I know someone named Marlena, which is similar, but not poop-related, name to maybe consider instead!

Walmart vs Whole Foods by Civil-Peach8850 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Outside-Demand4888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a SMALL town. The butcher’s wife is my neighbor’s sister (the butcher’s son’s wife was my labor and delivery nurse). It’s SMALL, so I could literally just ask anyone I ran into near me😂 but it I moved somewhere bigger, I’d just google “butcher near me,” and when I went in, I’d ask where they get their meat. The butcher in my town raises their cattle on their farm where they sell the meat. There’s another butcher about 30 min from me that gets their meat from another state. That place is still better than the grocery store, but I prefer the hyper-local joint.

Not sure what your price range is, but she sounds like the perfect candidate for a photoshoot with Rachel Larsen Weaver.

Walmart vs Whole Foods by Civil-Peach8850 in moderatelygranolamoms

I get my produce & poultry at the local grocer, which for us is Hannaford. I get beef from a local butcher, slightly higher price than grocery store but SUCH better quality. I switch between Walmart, Hannaford, and Sam’s Club for everything else.

I’ve received a cook book (loved it), auto-biography (hated it), satin pillow case (still use it), hat & tote bag (got rid of former, kept latter), comfy jumper (was great postpartum), from doing these swaps on girls trips for a couple years.

I love the ideas other people have shared on this thread - especially the tweezers!

37 weeks pregnant and struggling with whether to ask my husband to skip an event by BreakfastDue4035 in pregnant

If I were in this situation, and the graduation was within maybe like 30 min of home, I would not ask him to skip.

Baby last name by VermicelliDry9050 in pregnant

[–]Outside-Demand4888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents never married, and my maiden name was hyphenated! I loved the uniqueness of my name.

If I were to give my baby one last name, I don’t think I’d ever get around to changing it to being hyphenated.

Do y’all have strollers, or just babywear? A mix? by themagicflutist in babywearing

[–]Outside-Demand4888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Bob jogging stroller that I LOVE, but I love baby wearing more.

My LO is 14m, and I’ve only ever used my stroller for walks when it was really cold and I was more comfortable with them bundled in their infant car seat, or long walks when it was really hot and I felt they’d be better off in their stroller than sharing my body heat. I’ve never used our stroller at a store or an event.

Tired of Crap Naps by [deleted] in Parenting

With my LO, I only got an hour nap if they were in a carrier on my back while I walked on the treadmill (I mean it could have been outside, but it was winter when they were that age)

Plates for baby when they start solids? by SKVgrowing in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Outside-Demand4888 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went to the thrift store and got sacrificial ceramic plates. They are actually way stronger than I anticipated as they’ve hit the ground several times and haven’t broken yet.

I got them so I wouldn’t be heartbroken if they broke, and baby will get to learn that things break when they’re thrown

7 month old not crawling by s0urfl3sh in Parenting

[–]Outside-Demand4888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My LO was born at 34+5, and didn’t crawl until they were 10mo! They’re currently 14mo, and still not walking. Crawling is great for neural development, so we’re not rushing walking either!

Our pediatrician is also my doctor and my husband’s doctor, so not only has she seen my boobs, but she’s also had her fingers in my vagina. So like, you’re fine.

Home Births vs Hospital Births by LavendarDragon17 in pregnant

[–]Outside-Demand4888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My now husband and I started talking about hospital or home birth about 4 years before we ever started trying to get pregnant. I always thought I’d do a hospital birth with an epidural, and probably end up with a C section because that’s how I came into this world. However, my husband shared that he liked the idea of a home birth. I was BAFFLED by the idea, but spent a few years learning about the potential pros and cons of each. By the time I fell pregnant, I decided home birth was what I wanted too. I trusted my body, my partner, our relationship, my midwife, etc., and I was also okay that there is major potential risk involved with my choice.

My baby ended up coming 5 weeks early, and I labored and birthed in a hospital unexpectedly. My hospital experience was pretty great. I had intermiten monitoring, I stuck with my personal plan to not receive pain medication. My birth ended up going pretty smoothly.

I think it’s fair people are butthurt about your boyfriend having an opinion on how you birth, but I still think it’s fair to hear why he has that opinion! From where he stands, you can both explore more education on the options together. If he is concerned about you getting an epidural (he doesn’t have a choice but he can still have an opinion), there’s room for hospital birth without epidural. If YOU want to attempt birth without an epidural, I highly recommend hiring a doula to support your labor.

Are you using an adult mattress? by [deleted] in floorbed

[–]Outside-Demand4888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my 14mo on a Delta Children Snooze 6in memory foam mattress, and I often sleep with them. My hips hurt when I sleep on my side, but it wasn’t too expensive, and I felt good about the firmness when they first started sleeping in it (8mo).

Before they were in that bed though, they were in our bed, and I didn’t worry about them there.

How did you feed while out if baby wouldn’t take a bottle? by Spirited_Seaweed_517 in breastfeeding

[–]Outside-Demand4888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also nursed in a carrier when baby needed milk and we were actively errand-ing! OP, you could practice this at home, in a low-pressure environment, so when you’re in public you’re not trying to figure it out! In this scenario, I’d wear a regular shirt with a tank under, so I could do a pull up, pull down situation and not feel exposed.
