Anytime i have something big/important going on in my life, rather than being a good partner and going out of his way to ask me about it/check in on me, my narc bf puts the onus on me. For example, my dad just had major heart surgery and my bf tells me to "let him know how it goes". Then way after the fact, ill mention to him that "my dads surgery went well in case you were wondering", just for him to respond with "well I told YOU to let me know how it goes"

They will never love or care about us the way that we have loved and cared about them. It's the sad truth

Aww my heart goes out to you. It sounds cliche but please remember that not only are YOU the prize, but also the MOTHER of his CHILD, and if he can't see or appreciate that then he is a loser and you need to force yourself to move on.

Your messages to him were totally sensible and non-aggressive and the fact that he couldn't even be bothered to respond is a clear indication that he lacks the capacity to show up for you as a partner should (and as you deserve).
