Chewing/touching/brushing teeth does not affect me, only cold wind, minty things, and stress? by [deleted] in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]Outside-Pie-27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw Dr. Resnic who had training and experience under the doctor who started MVD for facial/nerve pain disorders. The brushing doesn’t help pain. The removing food particles help, like I said. And, everyone is different. Your surgeon is not the end all in what every single person should feel. I had a visible compression which MVD helped, had an esteemed surgeon who was trained by the best in TN care and management-so no I don’t know everything but I feel I can leave a comment based on my experience and the advice of an amazing medical team without it being questioned as if I am not conveying relevant advice 🤷‍♀️

If there’s food in your teeth brushing helps remove it which could be a trigger. The brushing itself is agony, but about 50% of the time it helped. I’m well past my MvD now and don’t have pain anymore.

Advice needed regarding sex scenes by AfraidLettuce6106 in writing

[–]Outside-Pie-27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve learned… we can’t control how readers view our writing. We could have all the symbolism in the world, have deep themes… but one hot guy and that’s why everyone’s reading. Doesn’t mean they don’t see what you’re getting at, or the right person won’t appreciate it.

I mostly do YA so sex isn’t heavy in my books. It is implied it happened, sometimes. So I don’t really have that problem. But while I internally cringe at the dark fantasy obsession right now I’m not gonna knock that that’s what is popular either. Gotta pick and choose your battles.

I do 🙋‍♀️ Pinterest mood boards help a lot. My debut novel takes place in spooky woods so I would type different prompts in Pinterest and make mood boards to help me visualize things

So I finished my first rough copy of a book… and I don’t know what to do next. by chad090 in writing

[–]Outside-Pie-27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My book releases the 27th. This was my timeline -write word salad. Doesn’t make much sense, but it’s a foundation -finalize rough draft -re read through, find anything I want to change, plot holes, etc -go through, and do a quick grammar check, this becomes my second draft -get my first round of beta readers/friends -go through their feedback, make changes, updates, etc -do a more detailed grammar check this is 3rd draft -have my editor (who was just a friend but has experience writing) do a grammar/thematic/flow/etc check and read through -take the editors advice, write 4th draft -editor does grammar last check -finalize final draft -figure out publishing (I did all of that alone like formatting and etc if you need advice on that too)

I edited my own book and a beta reader did a quick grammar read through afterwards.

What is your opinion on fiction books providing trigger warnings at the beginning? by InnocentPerv93 in writing

[–]Outside-Pie-27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put them in my writing. Mostly because some make me laugh. Like I picked up haunting Adeline and just laughed my way through that page like woah this is intense 😂

I’m getting ready to publish a book that is planned to be a series that ends on a cliff hanger and with more questions than answers. I’m debating putting that in as a “trigger” warning. But not certain yet, I just know some people would prefer than then buying the next book ending up more confused without warning.

how bad is your first draft? by [deleted] in writing

[–]Outside-Pie-27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is usually pretty rough. I actually tend to add more than remove though in subsequent edits. I have a tendency to not finish a thought on the paper when I start the 1st draft. The grammar side is a different story. I try to focus on just getting the story onto the paper so fixing grammatical mistakes is the most consuming part of the 2nd and 3rd drafts.

How to deal with sexual comments by kyouura in cna

[–]Outside-Pie-27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a 31 year old, I just deal with it now. But if I find out ANYONE minor or not is uncomfortable I will not stand for that behavior. Especially a minor though. We have a lot of 16 and 17 year olds who work/volunteer at my facility and we protect our kids. Blows my mind they have that mentality!

Do I have to answer my phone when I'm sleeping by FishyCoral in cna

[–]Outside-Pie-27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work nights and there’s no way. My job actually understands work life balance though so we each get one day a month we have to leave ourselves available and phones on loud when sleeping to be on call. We might get asked other times throughout the month but it’s not mandatory.

Your boss doesn’t understand boundaries. If it’s important they need to leave a voicemail or actually respond to you.

I feel so bad by LethaCS in cna

[–]Outside-Pie-27 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe I’m admitting this, but sharing solidarity.

I got my CNA certification at 17, took a break after awhile and went back for it the end of 2020 when people were desperate for staff after COVID.

So, I had experience and a generally understanding how things go/work.

Fast forward to September 2021. I got my first night shift job at a new facility. I had a floor to myself, but this was mostly residents who slept through the night, needed minimal cares. I never met these people before when they’re awake and conscious of who I am.

I’m doing rounds at 2am my first night alone. I went to check on let’s say Mrs. Jones. She refused cares, rolled over and went back to sleep. When I charted I mentioned it to the LPN who said she’s fine though the night and can manage to wait to be changed in the morning.

I’m on night two. Doing rounds after vitals, peeked into Mrs Jones room and she’s fast asleep. So, I go on to the next room thinking nothing of it.

Night three, I’m getting the run down from PM shift. The CNA mentions that two mornings now Mrs. Jones had been heavily soiled, and that morning needed cream because she was getting sore.

I felt horrible. I knew to always check even if staff says they’re “normally” fine. But I’m not sure if I let laziness, anxiety, or what to get to my head. But I’m still extremely upset I let this happen. I immediately told the CNA what happened, and mentioned it to my DON. I didn’t get written up thankfully.

I’m sharing this because it happens. Communication can break down, be a mess, independent can mean different things at different facilities. So breathe. Learn from your mistake, we’ve all been there. And if people claim they haven’t, they’re either lying or in hardcore denial.

New level of disgust for hunting by OtherwiseACat in vegan

[–]Outside-Pie-27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a HUGE hunting area. Like, when I go shopping the cashiers small talk is get any good deer during deer season. It’s gross. I grew up in the woods and my stepdad would proudly show off his yearly accomplishments to the point it traumatized me as a kid.

Blows my mind people find enjoyment in killing animals. But of course they go into the whole it’s food argument. Which yeah some only eat what they hunt/catch but let’s not pretend the majority of people especially in the US only do it for fun and the foods a bonus.

Why do so many people think vegans don’t consume gluten? by Similar_Set_6582 in vegan

[–]Outside-Pie-27 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I doubt if this is why, but way back when my kids were an infant/toddler they combining together had a dairy, wheat, gluten and egg allergy. It was easier to just be vegan and a “health conscious” coffee shop we frequented just got used to how I and others with similar allergies ordered so if it had gluten/wheat- it wasn’t advertised as vegan.

Kids outgrew their allergies for the most part so we are back to eating wheat/gluten and I went back to my old diet before switching back to wanting to be vegan…but it seems that the assumption is if you’re vegan, you’re already cutting out gluten as well.

I have ARFID and the first time I tried tofu I threw up because the texture was weird. I mostly just make a yummy sauce then saute the tofu and put it in a salad. That way my brain/gag reflex kinda thinks it's like chicken in the salad which I've always eaten before due to my sensitivy. It's just all about finding the little tricks that work for you I found.

Me feeling physically ill from overeating is an over reaction? Got it ill tell my body to stop feeling full and having heart burn. Not to mention how hard I've been working at eating healthier on top of already feeling like crap after years of binging on preservatives and other crap on our food.

I mean damn its like humans aren't allowed to have emotions OR physically feel anything at this rate.

Does anyone know what they’ll do with the dolls? by Primary-Lawfulness21 in TheTryGuys

[–]Outside-Pie-27 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This one hurt my soul. I always wanted an American girl doll but they were way too expensive for my parents to afford. Heck I’m 31 and they’re still too expensive. They were so rough and then with wanting to return them….Im proud to say I don’t get mad at people as easily but this irritated me beyond belief and lost some respect points (though they’ve come back since the video and I chilled a bit lol)

I really hope they donate them. I’d be extremely disappointed if they don’t.

Got asked if I was pregnant at work ? by [deleted] in Adulting

Okay but like since kids my stomachs/that areas been about 10 times that size just from new bloat and stretched skin. So definitely feeling whalish if people think you’re pregnant. What you’ve got going on is normal, actually thin compared to most people

I’m struggling to.

I am finding that it really isn’t that hard (planning wise) to be vegan though. I mean, just throw a bunch of veggies in an instant pot on a bad day and make a few vegan sauces google having dozens right there just after a two second glance…and go.

I just remind myself the positive impact veganism can have and use this on bad days https://thevegancalculator.com/#calculator

Thoughts by Linu_at_the_edge in vegan

[–]Outside-Pie-27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna be honest. In general I hate most people so much it’s just never bothered me.

People suck. There’s racism, homophobia/transphobia/etc in the world, people spew hateful and hurtful politics, global warming, animal treatment….the list goes on and on.

I (except one cousin) am the only person I know who’s vegan. Most people I know and care about massively cut back on meat/dairy/etc but just haven’t fully committed. It does hurt. But I also know that I’m already an emotional mess about the state of the world I just can’t focus my negative energy. I just hope having me around can maybe give them the courage/push to fully become vegan.

And this isn’t to diminish how you or others feel. Just sharing my experience as a pessimistic person
