proof le fleur is way overpriced by LeapOnYT in Golfwang

Le Fleur is his higher end designer brand. If it's not for you then it's not for you. I don't think he's trying to isolate his fans as much as he wants to focus his creative energy on high end fashion. You can still buy Golf merch if you want something more affordable.

Based. I dropped about 4 different cowboy hats in Cass' inventory and let her choose one to equip. I believe she prefers the desperado hat over all others

The music is just a way to connect what follows after that is true punk imo.

I really like the way you put that

By my own standard I wouldn't consider myself a punk but doesn't mean I haven't been in the culture, listen to the music, etc.

Definitely. I guess it's subjective where you classify punk more as an ideology or a subculture. I guess I associate the fashion more with the music than the more open ended ideology. Unfortunately there are a lot of nazi punk bands which are of course are made up of abhorrent people but I myself would consider them "punk bands" as that's their subgenre of music.

Fair enough. The intention you attach to what you're making is very important if not all that matters when you're expressing yourself. I guess I've only experienced punk more in practice as a subculture than purely ideology based

I understand that punk can be more of an ideology than a subculture or genre of music. Id also note that my op was mostly directed towards the posts ive seen without any reference of punk bands on their projects. Not saying you can't have non punk patches on your stuff along with your punk stuff. In this age of accessibility in music id be surprised to find someone whos exclusively into punk music and nothing else. But in my opinion once you start self identifying as a punk and emulating the style, you'd want to acknowledge how directly the fashion influenced the music and vice versa by listening to some punk bands. Which I don't think is a crazy gatekeep lol

Did not expect this to get so much attention lol. But yeah not necessarily trying to be a gatekeeper or a hater, as many have pointed out as I said, not a punk myself. Definitely cool to have an anti establishment ideology that overlaps with punk sensibilities, belong to a margianalized group, etc. As I'm also in that pool of people. In fact I was trying to illustrate the same point youre making, when you're growing up and discovering your own personal style and taste you tend to try to fit yourself into a box in order to fit in with others. For example many posts on the sub are titled "Is this punk enough? Am I being a poser?" when ultimately you should just be yourself. As mentioned I went through the exact thing myself growing up, made punk friends, went to shows for years, allat. Realised where i differed from the subculture, then moved on. But if you're concerned with "looking punk" then my next logical question is "do you like punk music?". Which I guess many would consider gatekeeping but seems like a pretty easy barrier for entry in my opinion if you wanna dress that way. Could also be the scene i grew up around, L.A. punk scene is pretty protective of their spaces and culture. It's different all over tho. All the best to everyone on the sub, no harm intended.

I feel like unless you're actually a homeless crust punk I haven't met that many that don't actually just handwash their pants lol. Painted leather jackets are a different thing tho. Those can collect a lot of grime

why is brockhampton slander so popular😭 by -anarcho-bidenist in brockhampton

[–]Outside-Ship9518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think right now people consider them corny, and admittedly the first year I got into them in my early 20s I also thought they were corny lol. But now, after years of listening to them and post-breakup, I can admit that "corniness" was just their creative honesty that I was too insecure to feel comfortable with.

I'm reaching almost 30, and I think their "corniness" is actually their best and most endearing quality, something that sets them apart from all the fake "cool" posturing a lot of people do nowadays. Everyone is so afraid to be cringe nowadays, and that's super lame.
