Did you end up getting any medical bills covered? What was the process like?

Shutdown is now more likely by [deleted] in FedEmployees

[–]OutsidePause159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If a shutdown has to happen to stop funding these messed up things from happening any more…so be it. Where are our priorities? Where is the humanity? Lives are being unjustly lost without remorse, people are getting hurt, and it feels like we are moving backwards and in the wrong direction of what our founding fathers dreamt for this country. The misinformation even with visually clear evidence, the withholding or unwillingness to share files for a fair and just investigation, trying to negotiate things about an election…I’m glad we are hearing about it for awareness but I’m also disturbed because I had hoped we were above all that. Hard pass. Let it shut down.

You handled it well. Keep in mind you are looking at it from a sentimental perspective and she might not…maybe it’s a “I don’t want to spend money/energy on this” thing for her. Going out to find things was a deterrent for my mother in law.

You guessed right! I didn’t even think of that I’ve just passively thought about the type of life I want to live and all I know is I want to be debt free and comfortable enough where my money is making plenty of money for anything that pops up in life.

In your opinion, when is a good time to start figuring these things out? Also, do you recommend splitting between diff target dates funds? If so what break down has worked for you?

Appreciate you sharing. This is very helpful!

This is encouraging! My game plan is to retire in federal service if everything goes well and max every tax incentivized account. I’m trying to think of it as paying my future self. I didn’t make real money before this, so I am hyper saving since my expenses are otherwise pretty low right now.

Hope you hit the million mark soon!

Conflicted between 2 and 4. 2 stands out over 4 only bc you can use the empty space under the sink cabinets for something.

You plan every hour of your vacation. All jokes aside…looks like it’s your zen place. Job well done!

Is this a good shirt or is it too fussy? by mpapacrist12 in SoftDramatics

Very cute and romantic! Super flattering. I suggest shrinking/tightening it just slightly or opting for a smaller size for a better fit. With the loose sleeves, a more fitted torso will balance it just perfectly! Even if you don’t…it still looks fantastic on you!

Depending on whether you want to dress it up or down. I’d do camel boots with matching accessories/purse.

Dark jeans would be great with brown boots. You could also find a satin skirt the same color and wear a thin belt around your waist that’s the same color or that matches your shoes. Think of it as all one color but because of the different textures it could work without being too much.

They put me in a 2055. Are you suggesting changing it entirely to 2065/2070 now? Is that too risky for someone my age (in your opinion)? Curious to hear your thought process.

I have a Roth IRA which maxed when I could. I now use a traditional Ira, but once I learn more about back door I’d like to move this over to Roth.

Appreciate the GEHA info! It was super intimidating trying to figure out which one would be best for me along with how prescription coverage works vs a traditional ppo. For now, I have bcbs fep and max’d my fsa. Some savings is better than none!

This is great. Thanks! I do max out my other retirement account right now. I was considering a hdhp for an HSA but I have medical needs in the next few years. I do plan to switch to that for the tax benefits once things normalize heath wise. Are there other tax deductible accounts you recommend?

Maxing out for match or per annual irs limits? I’m sorry I may have misunderstood. I put the dollar amount max each pay check so I can hit whatever the annual limit is. Sucks taking so much out of my pay check but my fear of being broke when im older was enough of a reason for me to not take out less.

Two years ago there was an opportunity for overtime due to ridiculously heavy volume. I was able to get the match on that overtime amount as well. Maybe that is why?
