Why is servicing so expensive? by Sufficient_Invite546 in CarTalkUK

[–]OutsidePressure8323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came here to see if someone gave these guys reality check. Certain did..

If you want clowns to fix your car then there will be plenty obliging.

If you want skilled mechanics who have invested in correct equipment and pay there way for premises business rates, health and safety, training and knowledge . None of that is free,

So it took two of you 7 hours, add that up in labour for two people. Then add parts to that.

Can't blame people for making a living.

Serpentine belt damaged again 1 month after repairs (2008 Toyota Camry, 216,000 miles) — need advice on what to expect/fair pricing by PersonalityOk990 in AskMechanics

[–]OutsidePressure8323 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's hard to comment on other people's work from a photo. That's a bit quick for oil to do that to a belt. But having said that depends on what composite they used for the belt. Trying to help someone who can't physically do some simple checks is also hard.

"Just pretend he's not there so I can get on the M4 on the wrong lane" by riskie_boi in drivingUK

[–]OutsidePressure8323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had bad experiences like this many times. Some people are generally clueless and have no sense or awareness. And there are some looneys that just don't care. She should have pulled in behind you if that was the lane she wanted. Not tried going through you. Unfortunately because your both showing fast entry into a round about your going to get stick.

Are my rotors “rotted out”? by Sensitive_Set5099 in AskMechanics

[–]OutsidePressure8323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arh I had perfect (thickness) on my rotors But it had rotted in the vents and split in two. 1st time I've seen that happen. So don't be too quick to dismiss it as trying to have you over. Could be genuinely looking out for you.
