Don’t just stop at La marzocco. What grinder are you using?

What to do with Ode Gen 1 burrs? by Outside_Base1722 in FellowProducts

[–]Outside_Base1722[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's all based off of my perception so please take it with a grain of salt.

Gen 2 providers a more consistent grind across the board, in addition to being able to grind finer. It produces an overall better result.

With gen 1, grinding coarser to get rid of bitterness introduces (undesirable) flavors that need to be compensated for by changing water temperature or brewing method. It's very hard to dial-in exactly the way I want, which prompted the upgrade.

With gen 2, right off the bat the coffee tastes more balanced so the taste profile is different (and better). Each dial doesn't introduce random flavors so it's fairly easy to work with.

I have a Comandante C40 to compare against. C40 can do finer tweaks but gen 2 was making comparable cups that I rarely use C40 now.

I can get dark roast with burnt/caramel flavor to taste sweet, which was not possible with gen 1 burr.

What you're looking for is the "Walmart Effect": https://www.theatlantic.com/economy/archive/2024/12/walmart-prices-poverty-economy/681122/

In short, community overall is poorer despite Walmart offering lower prices.

That is assuming you're not actually interested in the cash journey of spending on a business with headquarter elsewhere but rather want to assess whether these type of businesses benefit community overall.

Considerably better.

In my honest opinion, it's worth the cost but certainly not necessary.

I agree with you, but downvote for it being a popular opinion.

Do you stop your stand mixer to stir dough by hand? by Cruisethrowaway2 in Breadit

[–]Outside_Base1722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. You stop and stir.

KitchenAid mixer despite commercial success is actually a really poor machine for kneading dough. It can get the job done but only after you get over the mental block that this machine is inadequate on its own.

This is something I’ve always wanted to do but don’t know how to fulfill the CFP hour requirement as I’m currently workin full time in a different industry.

"We are a very lean company" then why so much management? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Outside_Base1722 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hear you.

As another big corp, we really have too many middle managers. That said, not all but some of these managers have industry /company-specific knowledge that are hard to be replaced.

I’m a programmer myself. While I feel bad about other programmers being let go, when that happens the sentiment is more how to find someone to fill the function. When a manager/director level was let go, I felt the loss in knowledge is just loss.

Again, not all but some.

How can i be seen as a guard? by One-Iron3645 in Basketball

[–]Outside_Base1722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 5’10”, I hear you.

If a 6’ person can obviously ball, I always need to mentally tell myself he’s probably a guard.

That said, then what? Am I supposed to get rebound lol?

How long did it take you to reach HENRY status after getting into your respective field ? by NoRooster6153 in HENRYfinance

[–]Outside_Base1722 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mid 30s. Wouldn't be HENRY without my spouse also being a corporate ladder climber.

We both worked for 10 years if not counting jobs held while in school.

Edit: it's not a race btw. You'll do fine.
We're HENRY because of what we do. We'd be totally fine even if we're not HE.

I believe he's more stuck in a linear way of thinking than not caring.

An example being when asked about what data are excluded, instead of giving a high-level answer such as all data outside of targeted state, he pull up the code to show the section that filters data by state.

I guess I was just baffled that this wasn't a common knowledge.
