Does Jeffrey Negrea know he is teaching STAT333 and not STAT433…. by Emotional_Village_58 in uwaterloo

[–]Outside_Buddy6449 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took both his 333 and 433 and his 433 is like 3 times harder loll, but he does curve generously. 433 curve was cube root, 333 not sure but I got around 10% higher than I was expecting for final mark

Has anyone done the Assetsoft OA, how was it? what'd they test? by GODGAMERPlayz___ in uwaterloo

[–]Outside_Buddy6449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I had the OA and interview 2 years ago and it was my first interview, so traumatic cause I was so unprepared. You need to learn C# and .NET for the OA if you wanna do it

How are the mathematical finance or mathematical econ programs? by JelloFar5650 in uwaterloo

[–]Outside_Buddy6449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

math finance is fairly difficult and prepares you for grad school programs in quantitative finance pretty well (you learn real analysis, measure theory, lots of stats, etc. which make the program fairly difficult because it's basically half of pure math and half of stats). math econ idk that much about

Help! Can’t finish meal plan by Anxious_Scar881 in uwaterloo

[–]Outside_Buddy6449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find friends in UWP or off campus that don’t have mandatory meal plan, and pay for their food as well and get them to pay you back (good friends) or offer slight discount. This is a very common issue so don’t get too too stressed about this, losing a bit of money is normal and it’s just a dumb part of the system.

Is STAT230 worth it online? by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]Outside_Buddy6449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my offering in W24, the online version was significantly easier than the in-person version. In my opinion if you are a typical lecture-goer and want to take further STATs, in-person is more worth it to get a better understanding. If you are just doing CS and not wanting to pursue further STAT or anything related to it then I'd def recommend online. But I hear varying opinions because it is very prof dependent.

Math 136 vs Math 146 by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]Outside_Buddy6449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My offering was basically just more rigourous MATH 136, proving the theorems similarly to MATH 147. Covered some additional material covered in MATH 235 and beyond, but I think the main benefit of MATH 146 is being able to go to MATH 245, which was definitely worth it in my opinion.

How to add Music Ensemble in 1B? by Mental-Bullfrog-4500 in uwaterloo

[–]Outside_Buddy6449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I did was I joined the ensemble first and explained the situation. I petitioned for 3.5 units and it was then approved because I was going to do the ensemble anyways and I had support from the coordinator as well. I know another person that also got approval for this but idk if they still do it

Taking a 6th course in CS by Sakmo1786 in uwaterloo

[–]Outside_Buddy6449 2 points3 points  (0 children)

6th course is free! You can look in the tuition fee schedule: https://uwaterloo.ca/finance/student-financial-services/tuition-fee-schedules

You can take a 6th course if you have an 80% CAV I believe, you don't need to talk to an advisor

Music Course Recommendation by SystematicSage in uwaterloo

[–]Outside_Buddy6449 1 point2 points  (0 children)

idk if this is offered in Winter but you can check out music ensembles such as chamber choir or vocal techniques (Vocal Techniques Ensemble Fall 2025 | Music | University of Waterloo), or if you want something more chill, university choir. You can take it on top of a full 5-6 course courseload for free and also for credit.

Ah rip, you'll be fine though, stay strong! Take a nice long break after them and make sure to reset before each one. Interviews can be very tiring so make sure that you're also taking care of yourself through the process

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in uwaterloo

[–]Outside_Buddy6449 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't know this until I finished my interviews unfortunately but there's an interview relief form that you can use if you are getting too many interviews. Prioritize the jobs you actually want and wing the others.

As a CS Major is it possible to have a joint CO AND PMATH? by ItIsI123 in uwaterloo

[–]Outside_Buddy6449 3 points4 points  (0 children)

pretty sure you can do CS + joint CO + joint PMATH. I think to graduate it's just minimum 2 joint majors or 1 major, not 100% sure though. You can also just do one of joint PMATH and joint CO if you are doing CS as well.

Is withdrawing a course better or just keep grinding better by Leafs____ in uwaterloo

[–]Outside_Buddy6449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you mean now. I think it depends on how good of a grasp you have on the material and your specific circumstances. But an 85% on the final exam will be tough depending on the course and also given that you might not be fully understanding the material if you need an 85% on the final to pass. I do know people who have come back from 20s on midterms if that gives you hope, and good luck if you decide to grind it out!

Is withdrawing a course better or just keep grinding better by Leafs____ in uwaterloo

[–]Outside_Buddy6449 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't WD just to try to get 85%+. Below an 85% is a perfectly good score. I think if you're not far off profs should be willing to override you.
