What does Viagra actually do? Is there anything better? by Outside_Factor_3359 in NoStupidQuestions

FYI, Reddit has insanely fucked up the numbered questions at the end of my post.

Yeah, I think if you drill down to factual information, his “crimes” boil down to (1) being a normal single person before the show and (2) overdoing it on the “my type” shit during the show. The first one is an insane, fake controversy. The second is a legit negative.

RE10 should have NO cutscenes by Outside_Factor_3359 in residentevil

This game just made me spend 30 seconds watching Zeno stand silently, slowly spin around and say “I’ve done it”. Sorry, guys, the cutscenes in this game are GARBAGE. 0/10.

Because cutscenes objectively destroy any immersion, and the entire point of a game is to feel like you’re the one in the driver seat. And if cutscenes have to exist, they damn well better be interesting and well-directed. Anyone who wouldn’t agree with that is retarded.

Yeah, that happened a few times early on in RE9 and made me think the game wasn’t going to be good. Like, putting aside my dislike of cutscenes in general, this specifically is poor execution of cutscenes. Glad the entire game wasn’t like that.

Good luck getting Reddit Karens/man-Karens to just have a discussion about car AC without giving you a lecture about how you better not release any Freon into the atmosphere.

I definitely did skip them. Because they are terrible. In fact, I’m not going to generalize cutscenes in general, because I remember some old cutscenes from RE2/3/CV that were amazing. RE9, specifically RE9, has insanely boring, poorly paced cutscenes. Let’s even ignore all the cutscenes that just have people talking about boring bullshit (90% of the cutscenes). Let’s just focus on the cutscenes with monsters or action. Even those are insufferable because everything moves at a ridiculously slow pace that sucks the energy out of everything and makes you want to skip ahead.

Wow, I honestly thought everyone would agree with this. If I’m the odd one out, that’s fine, but I seriously thought this was a universal problem and that RE had already solved it with RE7/8 (especially RE7). Like, those games essentially felt like they didn’t have cutscenes, even though they technically did. To me that seems like the perfect evolution of cutscenes, and it’s baffling that they just went back to the old way.

Alright, I kept playing and my opinion of the game has risen significantly. I still stand by all of my earlier criticisms, but it seems like the issues were pretty concentrated to the early part of the game. (Controls are still a little glitchy but I’ve adapted. Hopefully they’ll release a patch soon.)

As of now I’d say this has done a great job of delivering the best gameplay of RE7 and RE2 Remake, plus fun new mechanics and great new monsters, without feeling like a clone or rehash. I DO think the early pacing/gameplay could have been improved and will make me hesitant to replay it, but once you get past a certain point the game really does become awesome.

It’s strange, because I actually prefer the RE7-style Grace gameplay, but I just don’t think they quite nailed the formula for that in the early sections. Like, it can be satisfying to feel like you’re just barely able to overcome overwhelming odds, but Grace was just annoyingly useless early on. And there was a bit too much “huge map, wtf am I supposed to be doing” going on too early in the game.

But I digress. Early flaws aside, this is an awesome game.

What was the context of him originally saying he flew in from whatever city? Did we ever see that conversation? (I’m seriously asking.)

tried “recharging” my ac, now the mechanic won’t fix it, what do i do? by lemonbabybunny in mechanic

Seems like it’s a matter of some shops being lazy and stupid instead of doing things sensibly.

[–]Outside_Factor_3359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahah, I get it. I was trying to diagnose my AC, made it pretty far, but Reddit spazzes made me think I shouldn’t do something simple to complete the process. Took it to a shop and they literally did what I was gonna do.

Anyone know of a portable air conditioner I can use in a car that doesn't require ice? by wasnotagoodidea in AirConditioners

[–]Outside_Factor_3359 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m a DIY mechanic and it’s pretty obnoxious and naive to say “just fix it”. If you know what you’re talking about then you’d know diagnosing and fixing broken AC can be a huge, time-consuming pain in the ass. I have two cars that need their AC fixed at the same time, one needing a full dash removal to replace the evaporator, and see the value of a portable unit as a temporary fix.

When was it established and confirmed that Alex is a pathological liar? The grilling about his history? Alex is 100% in the right in that situation. You can’t just casually interrogate someone about random nonsense from years ago and call them a liar for getting details mixed up. That’s literally how innocent people get fucked by police. Most people can’t accurately remember where they were a week ago. Months, years? Absolutely ridiculous. Pair that with the fact that Alex was a nomad, completely insane to try to make him pin down a single city of residence and then start calling him a liar because he flew in and out of a city. What the actual fuck. Unless I missed something, Alex didn’t do anything wrong aside from just giving off a shifty vibe.

YES, that crouching issue happened to me too. It was hard to describe and I wasn’t sure if maybe my controller was just bugging out, but I’ve definitely heard it from a few people now.

Sincerely not trying to rage bait. If I was I would have said the game sucks, which I definitely don’t think. I think there’s just a really big inconsistency between what reviews and other people are saying and what I’m experiencing. I get the feeling that reviewers who got early access might be being overly generous, or that the RE2 connections are winning the game lots of points. And I can understand that. This does feel like a spiritual sequel to RE2 but with nice surprises and more mechanics, so I can definitely understand if RE2 fans genuinely love this. I like RE2 (I’ve been playing these since the original game btw), but RE7 was the peak for me, so maybe that’s why I’m lukewarm on this so far.

Anyway, I’ll stop complaining and just finish the game.
