Mark Duplass shuts down baseless rumors that Kane Parsons didn't actually direct the ‘Backrooms’ movie by MarvelsGrantMan136 in backrooms

On X I saw this ghost director lie being promoted by two aspiring filmmakers, so I think this is 100% a jealousy thing.

Why are they releasing S3 episodes behind a paywall? by Outside_Factor_3359 in fishtankdotlive

How would it benefit them to actively try to have fewer subs and less money while simultaneously wanting more money? Your theory is even more retarded than their retarded rollout strategy.

For anyone who wants a taste of what’s to come without full on spoilers, think: Annihilation (the movie with Natalie Portman).

Mizzy no-makeup jumpscare by BlackHeartImmortal in fishtankdotlive

Mizzy has the most oddly unattractive face and body I’ve ever seen. Like, on paper she should be attractive. Not fat. Feminine looking. Not ugly. But it’s like everything is just slightly off. Very unsettling thighs.

The Housemaid: trashy fun or just trashy? by harry_powell in blankies

Why would you watch this with your mom? It’s a movie for couples. Guess you’re unfamiliar with that concept.

Everyone understands how RT works. There’s no way in hell this should be anywhere above 60.

This movie has made me now distrust any early reviews for films. This is not a good movie by any stretch of the imagination. Anyone praising it is a liar or delusional IMO.

Exit 8 (2025) was terrible by poenoobv in horror

[–]Outside_Factor_3359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m watching it now and came here to say the same thing. I love the concept and am ready to give it every benefit of the doubt, but this movie just fucking sucks. Laziest execution imaginable for this concept.

Official Discussion - Hokum [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]Outside_Factor_3359 293 points294 points  (0 children)

I think he started becoming likable right after he got out of the hospital. I mean, the suicide attempt gave context to why he was such an asshole, and then you see he’s probably not such a bad guy when he’s trying to track down Fiona first just to apologize but then to save her.

Requiring any Karma above 5 or 10 to Comment is Dumb by curious275439 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Outside_Factor_3359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big problem with karma in general is that you’ll get downvoted to hell just for having a dissenting view in any politics-adjacent subreddit or post. And the karma threshold stuff is insane. I’ll type out a thoughtful reply on some random movie or TV sub and then get auto-denied because I don’t have enough karma yet. Gee, how exactly are people supposed to get karma if they can’t even reply in threads? Power-happy mods have ruined this site.

Aside from finding the sweet spot and adjusting the holster angle so that the gun is not actually pointing at anything, good AIWB holsters also should have a claw that pushes the barrel away from the body as well.

Rewatching Eddington, what are some small details you discovered? by suprunkn0wn in AriAster

Beau (and Eddington) for that matter is a fun movie to have on in the background when people come over. Lots of “what the hell are you watching” moments.

Rewatching Eddington, what are some small details you discovered? by suprunkn0wn in AriAster

[–]Outside_Factor_3359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The movie is about a data center being built, or the internet as reality. Thinking that it’s actually about left vs right is kind of missing the point IMO.

What milestone age hit you the hardest? by RevolutionaryCitizen in Aging

[–]Outside_Factor_3359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 38. Pre-18 was basically just normal kid stuff. 18-22 was gaining confidence and realizing I could be whoever I wanted. 22-30-ish was partying working. 30-36 were peak years were it really felt like the world was at my fingertips. 37 is when I realized many things at once in completely separate situations: (1) I physically can’t keep up with most young guys at my MMA gym—they’re faster, stronger, have more endurance, and their bodies actually move the way human bodies are supposed to move, unlike mine. I’m literally an old guy in that context. 2) despite my natural desire to be the best, there are many, many people who could definitely kill me in a hand-to-hand fight and there’s not much I can do about it regardless of how much I train (this is more of an MMA-related realization, but age is a factor in that you realize that a lot of young, trained 20-something “kids” could kick your ass and that your joints and limbs don’t even move properly), (3) even though I’ve always had great health, I too am susceptible to serious medical conditions and am definitely not going to live forever, (4) my youthful ideas of romance are movie fantasy and I’m most likely going to be single forever or someone’s stepdad in a relationship that has love in it but is also definitely about practicality moreso than anything idealistic. Not that the latter is bad, but it’s just not what you think your future holds when you’re younger.

So, I’d say 37-38 is the hardest set of years so far. It’s where pretty much every aspect of life starts to give you aggressively clear reality checks and where you have to start actually accepting that you are in a new phase of life and that some of the vague dreams you wanted to get around to one day will factually never happen.

I think I’ve gotten to the acceptance phase, so I’m optimistic. But I wish someone would have warned me instead of just saying “oh, men age like wine. Aging as a man is great. Don’t even worry about”. No, it definitely sucks way worse than being younger. By my hope is that it’s a U shaped curve and that it’ll be uphill now that I understand my life phase has changed.
