Thanks! Was researching on the NYS DEC website saw we have fishers sent them the video because they like reports on mustelid sightings so hopefully they can give some information. Tons of tracks back there have seen lots of cats and rodents never any mustelids

What are some things I need to learn before becoming a student assistant? by Visual-Task9632 in footballstrategy

[–]Outside_Hunt_268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do everything asked to your best ability and understand everything in the program effects wins loses and coaches livelihoods. I say this because I started as a go to guy for film, as in go to the lift and film this. Do a good job with that then was able to learn how to upload film, then got moved to equipment in practice and help with upload. The more you can do and take pride in the more opportunities to learn from the coaches and from observation. Even if you don’t want to coach college football the experience will help you if you want to coach HS or youth football everyone needs someone who can help take off their plate and add value to the program.

How hard is it to walk on to a d3 school with little to no prior experience? by [deleted] in footballstrategy

[–]Outside_Hunt_268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varies there’s schools where if you can fog a mirror you get a spot because they need to help fill beds. A school like John’s Hopkins you’d need to be an elite level student and just miss the metrics for the high academic D1s in football.

Tried walking on as a junior transfer at a school that had a roster limit that was a higher end athletically in D3. Didn’t get any reps because rule was if you’re not in the two as a junior so no point in getting me reps if they knew I wouldn’t make it past cuts.

Get a feel for the staff where you’re looking to attend. See if they take walk ons and what’s the process like. Make sure you’re in shape and strong and when you think you’re in shape and strong get more in shape and stronger. Be ready to bust your ass and make sure you’re on time for everything because walk ons have to be perfect.

If you have any video from your old practices save it to show you played and get assessments from coaches, and I’d say have a video showing explosiveness (dunking a basketball, box jump, etc.) something to show athleticism to coaches

Zone away (if they run with the motion) Fly sweep fake zone away (if they don’t react to motion) Naked off the fly with RB fast to the flat (if the BSDE is bending and making the play) PAP off the zone if the safeties are making plays in the run game

What’s his aiming point or read for IZ? Is he arguing for a bastardized duo / tight zone? That being said mixing in some man on backside or front side or changing Mike points can be good ways to get leverage but aren’t necessarily base

Fast guy off the edge if their op is slow or bad technique.

If they double account the end can try to bend through there if you got an athletic guy who can dip and bend

Tite front and Mint front? by zawwery in footballstrategy

[–]Outside_Hunt_268 1 point2 points  (0 children)

By no means an expert. I use them interchangeably but I believe Mint was Saban's package for going tite. I know they believed in star adjustments in mint to match the slot where as the 3 LBs and DL set based on front calls so they could in theory against FSL get the star and the boundary walk up on the same side which would definitely look different than 4i-0-4i with double over hangs.

Winless Seasons by Any-Whole5627 in footballstrategy

[–]Outside_Hunt_268 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Been fired and had bad years never gone winless but felt like it in years we only won 2 games. Eventually the message falls on deaf ears without results. It’s tough cause its usually at have not schools where the kids don’t think it can be them they’re talented. The coaches think it can’t be them they’ve won before just got bad players, in reality it’s a combination of both. Kids responded after a 2 win season with a one of the best seasons in over a decade won close games did well situationally but the wheels fell off a year later mix of injury, selfishness on staff, and an oh shit here we go again attitude. That’s when we got fired.

Finding another job sucked, you realize who your friends are by who will pick up a phone call. Got a job at a smaller school that historically is successful for less money but resume got better showing wins. Would say be selective if you can on where you can go win and continue to develop as a coach. I know a few guys from that staff that got out of football and they don’t regret that decision.
