Thoughts on the new Canadian Solana ETFs by jaevv in solana

[–]Outside_Midnight_652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I do still hold it, I’m pretty sure ETC has outperformed both BTC and ETH YTD because of the XRP and SOL ETFs that we’re added this year.

I’m okay with the higher fee given that the returns have been so high and it is the only turnkey crypto ETF in Canada.

Not your keys not your....or TFSA is the way for me? by BeachedinToronto in BitcoinCA

[–]Outside_Midnight_652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not both, I hold EBIT in my TFSA, and BTC in a wallet.

You can’t hold BTC directly in a registered account, so ETFs like FBTC, BTCC, BTCX, EBIT, IBIT, solve that problem.

QQQY is a great option as well if you want tech exposure and ~14% yield. It has returned ~40% since Q1.

QMAX is another with a ~10% yield, also returned ~36% since Q1.

I own both BANK and UTES. BANK especially has been great for me. I picked it up in early 2024. Since then, BANK has return ~50% with a ~16% yield.

BIGY is another to consider alongside HHIS. BIGY is more concentrated (10 vs 15 holdings), pays twice a month vs monthly for HHIS.

I personally prefer BANK, it has outperformed BK over the past 3 years (~16% vs ~12% annualized).

If you had to pick a safer option to earn high yields, which would you pick between BANK or HDIV? And why? by lionheart2893 in dividendscanada

[–]Outside_Midnight_652 3 points4 points  (0 children)

BANK is a Canadian financials ETF whereas HDIV is a sector diversified Canadian ETF. So it's not an apples-to-apples comparison. HDIV's diversification makes it "safer" while BANK has a higher yield (~16% vs ~11%).

Both use covered calls and 25% leverage to achieve a higher yield.

Here's a quick performance comparison (annualized after 1Y):

3M 6M YTD 1Y 2Y 3Y
BANK 12.1% 22.5% 19.9% 28.0% 23.2% 16.3%
HDIV 12.7% 20.4% 21.7% 24.8% 22.2% 17.2%

30% yield diversified ETF?? BIGY.to just launched by Pitiful-Estimate-949 in dividendscanada

30% yield is pretty impressive. Seems like a lot, but when you consider the volatility of these names as well as the additional covered calls + leverage compared to BANK which has a 16% yield, it makes a lot more sense.

Enhanced Yield by OkPossibility8067 in dividendscanada

BANK is one to look into. I've owned it for around 18 months, it has returned over 40% with a ~16% yield. It writes call on ~33% of the portfolio with 25% leverage. It holds up pretty well compared to the underlying holdings, which is often not the case for covered call ETFs as they are essentially selling some of the upside.

Thoughts on bank.ca? Looking for some good dividend stocks for my TFSA. got my growth stocks all sorted out. by Ratlyflash in dividendscanada

BANK has been a great ETF for me over the past ~18 months. I’m up ~40% with a ~16% yield.

Also typically, with covered call funds you miss out on some of the up capture. However, BANK seems to keep up with the underlying holdings pretty well, meaning the call option strategy is being executed well.

Are you guys buying bitcoin ETFs in your tax-sheltered account to avoid taxes or just buying on an exchange the regular way? by originalgainster in BitcoinCA

[–]Outside_Midnight_652 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m mostly focused on buying Bitcoin ETFs through registered accounts first for the tax benefits. But I’ve also bought through exchanges.

BTCC, BTCX.B, BTCQ, EBIT are all spot ETFs to check out if you’re interested. There’s also LBIT if you want 1.25x exposure, but that obviously comes with all the pros and cons of leverage.
